Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which artist did the painting "Erosion"?

Answer: Whelan, Michael

Michael Whelan is a fantasy and surrealist artist. In 2009 he was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. He also did the painting "The Summer Queen."
2. What is the last name of Ron in the "Harry Potter" series?

Answer: Weasley

From oldest to youngest (I'm not sure who's first- George or Fred, they are twins), the children are Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny. Ron was one of Harry's best friends, along with Hermione Granger. Like the other Weasleys, Ron has red hair. In the movie adaptations, he was played by Rupert Grint.
3. While eating some bread, could you tell me what color the HTML hex color code F5DEB3 produces?

Answer: wheat

White is FFFFFF. Whitesmoke is F5F5F5. Wild tangerine may be a color, but it was not among the list of color codes. This color is a light yellow, much like the grain called wheat. Wheat was first used as a color name in the early 1700s.
4. Who is the only Sweathog whose last name fits in this W category?

Answer: Washington

"Welcome Back, Kotter" was a 1970s show which starred Gabe Kaplan as a remedial teacher to a group called the Sweathogs. Kotter, himself, is a former Sweathog. Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs played Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington, one of the Sweathogs in the class. In the pilot episode, he explains that he got his name "Boom Boom" because he pretends to play the guitar.

This show made John Travolta, who played Sweathog Vinnie Barbarino, a star.
5. According to the Abbot and Costello routine, What's on first.

Answer: False

"Who's on first; what's on second." Lou Costello's real name is Louis Francis Cristillo, and Bud Abbot's real name is William Abbott. "Time Magazine" named the "Who's on First" skit the funniest comedy routine of the 20th century.
6. What is the name of the children's music group with four members with one member named Anthony, who wears blue?

Answer: Wiggles

The Wiggles were formed in 1991 in Australia by Anthony Field, who was studying to be a preschool teacher. He was formally with a band in Australia called The Cockroaches. He asked his friend Jeff Fatt, Murray Cook, and Greg Page to join him in making the Wiggles to educate children through song. Since the formation of the Wiggles, members have changed.
7. What was Ronald Reagan's middle name?

Answer: Wilson

Ronald Reagan was thirty when the US entered WWII. He still volunteered for combat duty. He was turned down due to his poor eyesight. 8. Does wilwarin mean butterfly in Quenyan, the language created by JRR Tolkien?

Wilwarin is a constellation in Arda (the world or realm). While JRR Tolkien never explained Wilwarin, his youngest son Christopher Tolkien suggested JRR was thinking of Cassiopeia, which is the constellation shaped like a W.
9. What does the French word "blanche" mean in English?

Answer: white

In lighting, white is not a color. It is all the colors together. In contrast, black is the absence of all colors.
