The first name for Nanty Glo was Glenglade but was changed to Nant-y-Glo because of Montell Davis's wife, and the spelling was later simplified to Nanty Glo. Montell Davis was the postmaster. The Davis family was of Welsh origin, as were many people in the Nanty Glo area. The Davis family worked at the post office from 1894-1901.

3. When did electricity first come to Nant-y-Glo?

Answer: 1908

John and Henry Conrad owned the Jackson Light and Power company. The company later became known as Penn Central and is now owned by Pennsylvania Electric Company/GPU. This company works out of Cambria County.
