Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The "Smithy" card costs 4 coins and only provides one effect... what is it?

Answer: +3 cards

By allowing the player to draw 3 extra cards, from their deck, the "Smithy" card allows them to try to increase their coin pool for the 'buy phase' of their turn.
2. Which of these cards allows you to attack each other player by forcing them to pick up a curse card whilst you draw 2 more cards from your deck?

Answer: Witch

The "Witch" costs 5 coins and allows its player to attack all other players with curse cards. A curse card counts for minus one victory point.
3. Which action card would you use if you wanted to trash up to 4 cards from your hand?

Answer: Chapel

The "Chapel" card costs 2 coins and allows the player to trash up to 4 cards from their hand. This is an effective way to get rid of curse cards or low value treasure cards which are clogging up a deck.
4. The "Mine" card allows a player to upgrade a treasure card. By playing this card a player may trash a treasure card from their hand and gain a treasure card costing up to how much more?

Answer: 3 coins

The "Mine" card costs 5 coins, making it an expensive purchase. Given that a "Copper" card costs nothing, a "Silver" card costs 3 coins and a "Gold" card costs 6 coins, the effect is to upgrade each treasure card by one step.
5. What effects do you get if you play a "Market" action card?

Answer: +1 Card, +1 Action, +1 Buy and + 1 coin

The "Market" card is extremely valuable as it allows a player to extend their turn and, hopefully, increase their chances of buying higher value victory cards. Many people like to play a second "Market" card as their +1 action, giving them all of these perks again!
6. How many coins does the "Feast" card cost?

Answer: 4 coins

The "Feast" card allows the player to trash that "feast" card and replace it with another action card costing up to 5 coins.
7. The "Moat" card is an action and reaction card. The action element allows the player to draw 2 extra cards. The reaction element kicks in when another player plays an attack card - when an attack is played, what happens if another player shows a "Moat" card from their hand?

Answer: That player is not affected by the attack

By making its player immune to an attack, the "Moat" card means that its player need not pick up curse cards or suffer any other adverse effect of the attack that has just been played.
8. Which attacking action card forces each other player to reveal the top 2 cards of their deck, and then to trash any revealed treasure cards that the attacking player chooses, later allowing the attacking player to steal the trashed cards?

Answer: Thief

Any treasure cards revealed and chosen by the attacking player are trashed if they are not stolen. All other cards are discarded.
9. What does a "Village" card do for its player?

Answer: + 1 Card, + 2 Actions

A "Village" card costs just 3 coins and is often played along with multiple other villages to provide a player with the opportunity to play a large number of actions in one turn.
10. The "Moneylender" states that its player must trash a "Copper" card from their hand. if they do, what do they get to use in that turn?

Answer: + 3 Coins

This card can only be used if you hold a "Copper" card. The + 3 coins are only playable in the "buy phase" of that one turn, but the trashing of the "Copper" card is permanent.
