Answer: Krypton

He was sent to Earth when his planet was destroyed. At the time he was a baby. Due to the different makeup of Earth's atmosphere and the yellow sun he became a Superman on our planet.
2. Once on Earth, baby Superman was given what human name?

Answer: Clark

He was adopted by the Kents, John and Martha. They pulled his spaceship out of a field and raised him until their own demise. It wasn't mentioned in the musical how old Clark was when they died, but he was at least in his late teens if not already a full adult.
3. Superman, in his assumed identity, worked at the "Daily Planet" newspaper. What city was the paper based in?

Answer: Metropolis

Clark toiled away at his desk across from Lois Lane. She barely notices that Clark exists, while lamenting to him that Superman barely notices her.

Clark lusts after Lois, who lusts after Superman, who is Clark in disguise.
4. Who is the villain in the storyline?

Answer: Dr. Sedgwick

Dr. Abner Sedgwick, who hadn't won the Nobel Prize the year before, became the villain when he decided to use a death ray that was installed at his university. He was quite upset that he had lost the Nobel Prize ten times in all. The ray had been installed at the university to squash student uprisings the year before the play was set.

Quite a piece of writing in the script.
5. Who debuted the role of Superman in the Broadway debut of the show?

Answer: Bob Holiday

All four actors played the character, though Reeves, Cain and Welling were all on TV. Holiday played the role on Broadway for all 129 performances before it closed.

He played both Clark Kent and Superman.

Answer: False

He was a columnist and known playboy at the paper. However he couldn't manage to get Lois' attentions. He kept following her around, singing about how he couldn't manage to get a date with her.

She had just one love, and that was Superman.

Clark had been tasked with covering a story about Superman having a building named after him. Clark nearly spilled the beans on his secret identity when trying to convince Lois to cover for him before he came up with his illness.

Answer: You've Got Possibilities

"You've Got Possibilities" was used to sell Pillsbury rolls and biscuits during an ad campaign.

The song has been recorded by Peggy Lee, Matt Monro and Linda Lavin among others. Lavin's version was the one used by Pillsbury for their ads.

Another song from the show, "It's Superman", was used as the intro music for newscasts on WTOP for more than a decade.

There was a major difference in the secondary villains in the special compared to the stage ppeoduction. On stage the gang is made up of Chinese acrobats. In the TV special the gang is the Italian mob. Producers said that was done strictly for cost measures.

Answer: Charles Strouse

Strouse wrote the scores for 25 musicals between 1958 and 2009. He also wrote music for a handful of movies. He won three Tony awards for his work during his career.
