Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Victors of previous Hunger Games had a talent since they don't work anymore. What was Peeta's talent?

Answer: painting

Peeta chose painting as his talent, since he always had a knack for painting. He practiced it while frosting the cakes in his parent's bakery. In the training center, Peeta painted a picture of Rue.
As for Katniss, she wasn't real sure about her talent, so she chose designing clothes, mainly so she could work with Cinna.
2. Where had Katniss seen Plutarch before the party at President Snow's house?

Answer: at the training center the previous year

After Katniss and Peeta had visited each of the eleven other districts, they went to the Capitol to celebrate their victory. While there, Katniss met Plutarch Heavensbee, who replaced Seneca Crane as Head Gamemaker. Plutarch made a joke about avoiding punch.

It took Katniss a while to get the joke, but then she realized that Plutarch was the person who fell into the punch bowl at the training center the previous year.
3. What was special about the 50th Hunger Games?

Answer: Twice as many tributes were sent into the arena.

Every 25 years there was a Quarter Quell in which something different than the norm happened. In the 25th Hunger Games, the district had to choose who would be part of the game rather than having their name randomly selected. In the 50th Hunger Games, there were twice as many tributes (48 instead of 24).

This was the game in which Katniss and Peeta's mentor Haymitch Abernathy was the winner. In the 75th Hunger Games, the tributes were the previous victors.
4. What was the name of the Avox that Katniss and Peeta encountered in their suite in the Capitol?

Answer: Darius

Darius was originally a peacekeeper in District 12, one of the nicer peacekeepers. He would even buy some meat that Katniss sold at the Hob-meat, that she killed by illegally hunting in the woods. He was captured by the Capitol and was made an Avox, one of the traitors of Panem who had their tongues cut out. Katniss figured that the reason Darius was in their suite was to unhinge Katniss, increasing the chances that Katniss would not survive the Hunger Games. Since Katniss was a symbol for the uprisings in Panem, the Capitol wanted her dead.
5. Which tribute in his or her original Hunger Games killed a tribute by ripping open his throat?

Answer: Enobaria

Enobaria, the female tribute from District 2, was the victor of one of the previous Hunger Games. She was known for killing a tribute by ripping open his throat while the two of them were engaged in hand-to-hand combat. After she won her game, she had her teeth altered so that each tooth became sharp and was inlaid with gold. Enobaria was about 30 years old at the time of the 75th Hunger Games, and, being from District 2, that made her a career.
6. Prior to the Hunger Games, each tribute had a turn to have a private session with the gamemakers. When it was Katniss's turn, she hung a dummy of which person?

Answer: Seneca

Upset at the Capitol for all they put her through, Katniss decided to hang a dummy representing Seneca Crane. The gamemakers were shocked but eventually dismissed her without commenting on what she did. Effie was not too pleased with what Katniss had done.

When the scores were revealed, Katniss was awarded a 12, the highest score possible. It was also the first time a 12 had been awarded. Haymitch believed a 12 was given to Katniss so that the other tributes would target her.
7. Which tribute saved Peeta's life from a killer monkey?

Answer: The female morphling from District 6

One of the obstacles in the Hunger Games was a mutated killer monkey. They started attacking some tributes, including Peeta. It was about to kill him when the insane female morphling from District 6 came out of nowhere and sacrificed herself so that Peeta could live.

It was later revealed that both tributes from District 6 were in on the plan to rescue Katniss and Peeta, and that both of them needed to be alive for the plan to work.
8. When the jabberjays attacked the tributes, which person did Katniss not hear?

Answer: Rue

The original purpose of the jabberjay was to overhear conversations that the citizens of Panem would have and report it back to the Capitol. If they said anything defying the Capitol, they would be killed. Eventually, the citizens caught on and started making them up, so the jabberjays were no longer used. However, they appeared in the arena of the Hunger Games.

They were speaking in the voices of the tributes' loved ones. Finnick heard his girlfriend, Annie Cresta. Johanna didn't hear anyone because there was no one left she cared about. Katniss heard people including her mother, Gale, Prim, Madge, and even some of Gale's family.

The first voice Katniss heard was of Prim, so she thought Prim had been kidnapped. However, Peeta pointed out that there were eight tributes left, and at the final eight, interviews with the tributes' loved ones occur, so that was were her voice most likely came from.
9. Who cut the tracker out of Katniss's arm?

Answer: Johanna

Johanna and Katniss were working together in order to help Beetee with his plan to electrify the beach. The two of them were unspooling the rope all the way to the water. However, the rope got cut by either Brutus or Enobaria. Almost immediately, Johanna used her knife to the tracker out of Katniss's arm, told Katniss to stay down, and left her there, so that Johanna could divert Brutus and Enobaria from Katniss.

At first, Katniss thought Johanna was trying to kill her, but after being rescued, Haymitch explained to her that she was trying to remove the tracker.
10. Which tribute was not taken by the Capitol at the end of the 75th Hunger Games?

Answer: Beetee

Haymitch revealed, among other things, that he was able to rescue Finnick, Beetee, and Katniss. However, they were not quick enough to pick up all remaining tributes. The Capitol picked up Peeta, Johanna, and Enobaria. He also revealed that Plutarch was part of an undercover group that had the intention of overthrowing the Capitol. Districts 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 11 were all part of the plan to keep Katniss and Peeta alive. Gale, who was with Haymitch and Plutarch in the hovercraft, also explained that the Capitol bombed District 12 - although her mother and Prim were safe, there was no more District 12.
