Death first takes Mort in as an apprentice. He later marries Death's adopted daughter, Ysabelle and they have a daughter, Susan Sto Helit.

Because Stoneface killed a king, Sam Vimes wasn't allowed to have a coat of arms anymore. He was told this by Dragon King of Arms in the book 'Feet of Clay'.
