Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which character read Farid into the Inkworld?

Answer: Meggie

Meggie read Farid and herself into the Inkworld by using the words Orpheus had used to read Dustfinger into the Inkworld. The only three words she added to those words were "and the girl".
2. The Laughing Prince became known as the Prince of Sighs after what happened?

Answer: Cosimo the Fair, his son, died

The Prince of Sighs started continually asking Fenoglio to write sad poems for him. He died soon after Meggie and Fenoglio visited him.
3. What did Fenoglio feed Rosenquartz?

Answer: Sand

Rosenquartz was Fenoglio's glass man. He helped Fenoglio by ordering new paper, sharpening Fenoglio's quills, making ink and rubbing sand over the smudges Fenoglio made with his quill.
4. Where did the Adderhead live?

Answer: The Castle of Night

The Adderhead was an evil character who loved silver and was afraid of death. Meggie went in to the Castle of Night to make a deal with the Adderhead and to see Mo again. Mo ended up accidentally making the Adderhead immortal.
5. What was the Piper's fake nose made of?

Answer: Silver

The Piper was one of the Adderhead's followers. He sung lots of bloodthirsty songs which the Adderhead and his followers loved, even though the Piper wasn't a very good singer.
6. Who said this?: "You'd like him back too, wouldn't you?"

Answer: Dustfinger

After Farid died, Dustfinger asked this of Meggie. Dustfinger ended up making a deal with the White Women after he heard a story about them. He swapped his own life for the life of Farid. That was a big quote in the storyline.
7. According to the songs about him, how did the Bluejay get the scar on his arm?

Answer: The Adderhead's dog bit him

Fenoglio used Mo as his model for the Bluejay. When in reality Basta's dog bit him, Fenoglio's songs said that the Adderhead's dog bit him and that's what left the scar on his arm.
8. What was Sootbird's trade?

Answer: A fire-eater

Sootbird was a really bad fire-raiser. As it said in the book, "the fire hates Sootbird". Sootbird turned out to be a traitor and a follower of the Adderhead.
9. What three words were used to kill Firefox after he had his name written in a book Mo made?

Answer: Heart, spell, death

Fenoglio wrote down in a letter some words for Meggie to read out loud to kill the Adderhead. Unfortunately, Meggie didn't finish reading the words out loud and was caught with the letter by some of the Adderhead's followers. It said on the letter that after someone wrote their name in the book, if they added the three words, "heart, spell and death" after their name they would die.

But the Adderhead didn't add those three words after his own name, so he became immortal. To test out if the book did make people immortal, they wrote Firefox's name in the book and stabbed him.

He didn't die until they added the three words, "heart, spell and death" after his name, and then he died.
10. How did Cosimo the Fair die for the second time?

Answer: He was killed in a war

Cosimo the Fair wanted to start war on the Adderhead, but during the war, he and many others died. Fenoglio sent a letter to Meggie to read to make Cosimo win the war, but she didn't get time to read it before Cosimo headed off to war. Before he died for the second time, Meggie had already brought him back to life by using Fenoglio's words.
