Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the profession of Dennis Mira, husband to the NYPSD's profiler, Dr. Charlotte Mira?

Answer: Professor

In "Kindred in Death", Dr. Mira meets Eve on the Columbia University campus and tells Eve that she and Dennis know the President of Columbia, Peach Lapkoff, through Dennis' teaching career at Columbia.
2. In "Immortal in Death", Mavis Freestone, Eve's oldest and closest friend, takes Eve shopping for her wedding gown to a new up-and-coming designer. Who designed Eve's wedding dress?

Answer: Leonardo

The thought of Mavis, with her outlandish sense of style, taking Eve shopping for a wedding dress terrifies Roarke. However, Leonardo, the designer knows women and what suits them and he definitely knows what suits Eve. After Leonardo designs the wedding dress, which Eve insists on paying for herself, Roarke constantly causes fashions from Leonardo to 'appear' in Eve's closet.
3. In "Vengance in Death", we learn about Summerset. What is the given name of Summerset, the man who serves as more than a butler to Roarke throughout the series?

Answer: Basil Kolchek

Summerset took Roarke into his home after Roarke received a particularly brutal beating from his father. Roarke lived with Summerset and his daughter, Marlena, for many years. After Marlena's death, Summerset changed his name to Lawrence Charles Summerset.
4. In "Promises in Death", Morris, Chief Medical Examiner of the NYPSD, tells Eve about his older brother who died in a drowning accident. What was the brother's name?

Answer: Jin

Morris told Eve that no one could give him answers as to why his brother drowned. That was the reason behind Morris's choice of career. Morris now finds the answers for the dead and for those the dead leave behind.
5. Jaime Lingstrom first caught Roarke's interest in "Ceremony in Death" when Jaime breached the security at Roarke's mansion on Central Park West, using a jammer which Jaime himself invented. Where does Jaime eventually go to college?

Answer: Columbia

Although Jaime wants to join the NYPSD when he finishes school, Roarke hopes to one day recruit him for one of his research and development departments. In "Purity in Death", the President of Columbia University, Dr. Peach Lapkoff, tells Eve that Roarke supplements Jaime's scholarship to Columbia.
6. Where did Ian McNab introduce Peabody to his cousin Sheila in "Memory in Death"?

Answer: Scotland

After an on-again, off-again romance, Ian McNab, (who we first meet in "Vengenance in Death") and Peabody become 'co-habs'; in "Memory in Death" McNab introduces Peabody to his family, including cousin Sheila, in Scotland during a Christmas holiday visit.
The travel arrangements to Scotland were a Christmas present from Eve and Roarke.
7. In "Portrait in Death", we learn the actual name of the owner of the "Down and Dirty", the all-nude sex and music club that Eve sometimes uses as a covert meeting place. What is the given name of "Crack"?

Answer: Wilson Buckley

In "Immortal in Death", Eve's 'bachelor party' is held at the "Down and Dirty" because, according to Mavis, 'bachelor parties' need to be in a place that is 'nasty'. Unfortunately, someone at the "Down and Dirty" that night is nasty and tries to kill Eve during the party.
8. What is the first name of Captain Feeney, the head of the Electronic Detective Division of the NYPSD and the man who trained Eve as a detective?

Answer: Ryan

Feeney is a father figure to Eve, and is protective of her. Initially, he distrusts Roarke, but realizes by the end of the first book, "Naked in Death", that Roarke is a man that would 'go to the wall' for Eve. In the third book, "Immortal in Death", Feeney arranges Roarke's bachelor party.
9. Charles Monroe, 'licensed companion', has a sister whose name played a small part in the the first book of the series, "Naked in Death". What was Charles's sister's name?

Answer: Annie

Charles, whose nickname for Eve is 'Lieutenant Sugar' is a friend of the initial victim in "Naked in Death". In "Seduction in Death" he serves as an expert civilian consultant, and in "Strangers in Death" he has a client who becomes a suspect.

On a non-professional level, Charles becomes a good friend of both Eve and Roarke, and in "Promises in Death" they serve as best man and maid of honor at his wedding, which is held at Roarke's mansion on Central Park West.
10. Who is the Lieutenant from IAB (Internal Affairs Bureau) who had a very short personal relationship with Eve and who had an altercation with Roarke in "Judgement in Death"?

Answer: Donald Webster

Eve and Webster's one night stand meant more to Webster than Eve, who has never had a lasting relationship before Roarke. Webster first appears in "Conspiracy in Death", but it is not until "Judgement in Death" that Eve breaks up a fight between Webster and Roarke. However, Roarke does help Baxter 'slip' into his fist in "Conspiracy in Death".
