In the dream, Bella sees herself as an old woman (represented by her grandmother) standing next to Edward, who looks young and beautiful as always. Bella does not realize that her grandmother represents her future self until she notices that all of her motions are mirrored in the old woman.

When Bella is 'an empty shell', she goes to a movie for social interaction to please Charlie.
