Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene with the Bledlows, where did the keys turn out to be?

Answer: in the Bledlow's pocket

This a traditional, nightly ritual which annoys a lot of the wizards who are trying to sleep through the racket caused by the Bledlows.
2. Other than the fact that the Librarian kept changing forms, how did the faculty of the University know that the Librarian was very sick?

Answer: he did not react when the Senior Wrangler called him a monkey

Everyone was shocked when the Senior Wrangler asked, "Does that book say if monkeys have pulses?" and was left intact. They pretty much assumed that the Librarian was dying.
3. Why does the faculty conclude they must cure the Librarian?

Answer: he's the only one who can keep the books calm

The Bursar was apparently attacked by a book when he went down in the middle of the night to get one, and the wizards know that they wouldn't be proper wizards if they couldn't get into their own library.
4. Why can't the wizards immediately cure the Librarian through magic?

Answer: they don't know his name

A basic rule is that you cannot magic a wizard without knowing his name. The Librarian has been The Librarian so long that most of his contemporaries are dead, and all the year books from his year have been...destroyed...with a bananary aroma lingering...
5. Who does the faculty decide can probably tell them the Librarian's real name?

Answer: Rincewind

Rincewind was the Deputy Librarian when the Librarian was turned into an orangutan.
6. Now I'm turning to a random page, somewhere near the middle of the book. What was the name of the horse that Rincewind won by shearing sheep?

Answer: Snowy

The "original" owner had a dog named Snowy. He apparently won the horse from a guy in Goolalah.
7. What is the first animal under construction that Ponder encounters when entering the cave of the atheistic god?

Answer: elephant

The first creature he encountered as he entered the god's cave was a beetle, but it was flying around, not under construction. The elephant was quite clearly being built. The shark was behind it. I made up the dog.
8. Who uttered this line? "But is lying on your side in a mud hole with your wheels spinning a very *important* niche?"

Answer: Ponder Stibbons

This was said to the Atheistic God by Ponder in regards to the elephant having wheels.
9. What is the last name of the Archchancellor of the University in EcksEcksEcksEcks?

Answer: Rincewind

By a weird twist of fate, the Archchancellor of the "other University," or BU, is named Bill Rincewind...

Ridcully is the current Archchancellor of the Unseen University in Ankh-Morpork, Weatherwax was one of his predecessors, and Vetinari is the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork.
10. What was the name of the dessert that Rincewind created when he fled into a kitchen?

Answer: Peach Nellie

The name of the singer for whom the dessert was created was Nellie Butts, which threw the chef into a crying fit because he didn't think he could find a good name for her dessert. Rincewind saved the day with the Peach Nellie.
