After Glenn's death, Andrea was disgusted and felt like Rick had abandoned his people. She told him they were the "strong ones" who needed to protect the innocent people living in the community. Before she left, Rick said "Stop. I have a plan." With that, Andrea decided not to move out.

Negan arrived for the first time to take half of everything the community had. A disgusted but obedient Rick allowed him to enter. Negan made Rick hold his bat Lucille for him as he threw his arms open and cried out at the amount of housing available.

He told everyone they were living like kings and would have much to offer. He guessed there were around twenty houses for forty-eight people and called it an embarrassment of riches.

Negan kept promising his Saviors would "only" take half of everything the community had. But Denise, who was the closest thing they had to a doctor, objected. She pulled a gun and demanded the Savior give everything back. He had taken all of their oxycontin and morphine and left the smaller things like aspirin and cold medicine. Negan crazily explained that he'd really left more than half of the total medical supplies and Rick let the Savior take what he wanted.

Jesus snuck behind Dwight after the Saviors left the community. The scarred man had no idea he was being followed until he met up with a lookout. Jesus faced at least three of them before being hit hard and tied up. The group took him with them. Right before they entered Negan's building, Dwight leaned back to talk to Jesus, only to find that Jesus had coyly escaped his ropes and fled. Dwight quickly told his companion in the car not to breathe a word of what had happened to Negan.

Carl snuck into a truck filled with his community's belongings. He had taken Abraham's machine gun with him and opened fire when he was caught. Negan took Carl around his compound, almost giving him a tour. He made Carl take off his bandage and show him his eye (well, eye socket). Gawking, Negan kept telling Carl how disgusting it looked, and he even wanted to touch it. Carl eventually began to cry.

Answer: "The rules keep us alive"

While Negan took Carl captive, he was called to take care of something. One of his "wives" had been caught with another man, Mark... likely her husband or boyfriend. Negan kept saying he didn't want to hurt anyone, but the rules had to be followed. Mark had to be punished for breaking the rules and had an iron pressed to one side of his face. Negan insanely stated that they were all Saviors and they kept people safe and needed to follow the rules.

Negan told Carl he had to pay for killing some of his men. Finally, he declared Carl had to sing him a song. Carl admitted he didn't know many but finally chose "You Are My Sunshine". Negan guessed that Lori had taught him that song and that she had died. Carl began to cry again.

Rick took a group of people out with him to search for Carl. They returned home well after dark and went to bed because they knew the next day they'd be out looking for him again. Jesus quietly woke Rick up, causing Rick to shove him against the wall.

He wanted to know how he got in, and Jesus explained that Heath had let him in. He had to tell Rick he knew where Negan's compound was located and figured it was worth waking him.

Rick went with a group to find the missing Carl and ended up running into Negan. The insane man said, "I can't ... wait until you see what I've done to your little boy!" At that, Rick attacked Negan, head-butting him. They exchanged a few punches until Negan had Rick under an arm. Rick then bit deeply into Negan's arm, drawing a decent amount of blood.

Answer: In a school

Jesus took Rick and a handful of his people to meet King Ezekiel, who lived in a school. It was large enough to fit his people, and the cafeteria was ideal. King Ezekiel owned a tiger named Shiva as well, much to Rick's surprise. While there, the group met Dwight again, who was allegedly trying to turn against Negan.
