Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Do they teach you how to apologize at beauty school? Because you suck at it!" Which movie is this from?

Answer: Erin Brockovich

I believe it's the last line in the movie. Ed Masry had just given Erin a check in an amount different than they had previously agreed upon. She was giving him a lot of flack until she noticed it was much MORE. She was speechless, provoking Ed's GREAT comeback line. Hilarious!
2. "You want answers?" "I want the truth!" "You can't handle the truth!" Name the movie this is from.

Answer: A Few Good Men

Great movie, great story, great performances. I love how Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson worked together. This quote is from the climactic courtroom scene right before Tom gets Jack's character to admit he ordered the code red. Awesome.
3. "Uh, who's car is that out front?" "Mine. 1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!" Which movie is this from?

Answer: American Beauty

Lester is lying on the couch, drinking a beer and playing with a remote control car when his wife, Carolyn, comes in and asks him about the car in the driveway. Wonderful movie.
4. Different twist. Name the one word that goes in the blank spaces and completes this quote from "Wall Street". "The point is ladies and gentlemen that ____, for lack of a better word, is good. ____ is right. ____ works. ____ clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit."

Answer: greed

Great speech by Gordon Gecko, played brilliantly by Michael Douglas. This is during his speech to the stockholders of Teldar Paper as he tries to convince them to let him take over the company and sell it for more profits. I was surprised what a good argument he made for the point that "greed is good."
5. "I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days." Which movie is this from?

Answer: Bull Durham

Great quote by Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) when Annie (Susan Sarandon) asks him what HE believes in. She's quite taken aback by his response as she replies, "Oh my!"
6. "Did you like the opera, dear?" "It was so good, I almost peed my pants!" "She said she liked it better than 'Pirates of Penzance'." Name the movie this is from.

Answer: Pretty Woman

This classic film launched Julia Roberts on a path to the top of the movie world. She and Edward (Richard Gere) are talking with the lady in the next seat after the opera ended.
7. "I tell any girl I'm going out with to assume that all plans are soft until she receives confirmation from me thirty minutes beforehand." "And they find this romantic?" "Well, I say it with a great deal of charm." Which movie is this from?

Answer: American President

The president decides to stop and get flowers because "that's what men do when they cancel a date." Lewis (M.J. Fox) describes his different approach.
8. "Are you crazy? A man in a really nice camper wants to put our song on the radio! Gimme a pen, I'm signin'! You're signin'! We're all signin'!" Which character says this?

Answer: Lenny

The movie is "That Thing You Do!". This line is by Lenny when Phil Horace wants to sign the band. Lenny has several hilarious lines in this fun and interesting movie! Another one is when someone asks him about the band and he replies, "Oh, I'm not here with these fellas. I've got a pig in competition over at the livestock pavilion, and I am going to win that blue ribbon!"
9. "This crowd has gone deadly silent, a Cinderella story outta nowhere. Former greenskeeper and now about to become the Masters champion. Oh! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!" Which movie is this from?

Answer: Caddyshack

Spoken by Bill Murray's character as he fantasizes about being a star golfer. Another one is when, instead of a tip, the Dalai Lama will supposedly give him "total consciousness" upon his deathbed. Bill replies, "so I've got THAT going for me, which is nice."
10. "Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played girl bunny?" "[laughing] No... No!" "Neither did I. I was just asking." Which movie is this from?

Answer: Wayne's World

Odd conversation between Garth (Dana Carvey) and Wayne (Mike Myers, who also wrote much of the movie). The guys are laying on the hood of the car watching jets land.
11. "I feel the need, the need for speed!" This is from which movie?

Answer: Top Gun

Spoken a couple times in the movie as Goose and Maverick's mantra before they head to their fighter jet. Fun movie.
12. "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!" Which movie is this from?

Part of a great speech by Bluto as he tries to fire up the fraternity after the Dean 'drops the bomb' on them. He sometimes gets confused but his intentions are good!

Answer: A League of Their Own

Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) scolds their right fielder, Evelyn, after she makes a bad play. She starts to cry, prompting his response.
14. "You had me at hello." What movie do we hear Renee use this line?

Answer: Jerry

Fun movie starring Tom Cruise and introducing Renee Zellweger to the public. At the end of the movie, he goes through this long explanation of why he really needs her, etc. Apparently, his arrival and 'hello' were enough to win her back.
15. "Do you like apples?" "Sure." "I got her number. How do you like THEM apples?!" Which movie is this from?

Answer: Good Will Hunting

Great line, one of my favorite of the movie. Will shows up some Harvard preppy by getting Skylar's phone number.
