Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Three tomatoes are walking down the street - a poppa tomato, a momma tomato, and a little baby tomato. Baby tomato starts lagging behind. Poppa tomato gets angry, goes over to the baby tomato, and smooshes him...and says, catch up.' What movie was this joke from?

Answer: Pulp Fiction

Mia (Uma Thurman) explained to Vincent (John Travolta) that she was going to be in a TV series called 'Fox Force Five'. In each show, she would tell a joke. This joke was from the pilot. Mia delayed telling Vincent the joke all night because he'd laugh (or not) but she finally told him after he saved her life when she overdosed. 'Pulp Fiction' was released in 1994.
2. 'I know what you're thinkin'. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question:' What was the question that finished the quote?

Answer: 'Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?'

Clint Eastwood, who played Detective Harry Callahan in five movies, said these lines in the first of the 'Dirty Harry' movies. He was pointing his gun at a bank robber at the beginning of the film. At the end of the movie, he said almost exactly the same lines to the Scorpio Killer (Andrew Robinson), the man he chased throughout the movie.

This has been parodied and misquoted many times since 1971, when 'Dirty Harry' was released.
3. What movie was this quote from? 'Every one of you listening to my voice, tell the world. Tell this to everybody, wherever they are. Watch the skies, everywhere, keep looking. Keep watching the skies.'

Answer: The Thing From Another World

At the end of this 1951 movie, once the alien had finally been killed, a reporter, Ned 'Scotty' Scott (Douglas Spencer), said these lines while reporting from an Arctic research station. The Thing, a creature that had been frozen in the ice, was played by James Arness, who starred in 'Gunsmoke', a TV series that ran for twenty years.
This movie was remade in 1982 and titled 'The Thing'. It starred Kurt Russell and the movie was changed to the point that at the end the research station had burned to the ground and there never was a Scotty.
4. In 1969, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight starred in 'Midnight Cowboy'. Ratso Rizzo and Joe Buck were friends just trying to survive. In one scene, they were crossing a street in New York City and a taxi almost hit them. What was the correct quote?

Answer: 'I'm walking here! I'm walking here!'

Ratso was a sickly fellow with a limp and a big mouth. He pounded the hood of the taxi, yelled 'I'm walking here! I'm walking here!', gestured at the driver and suggested that getting hit by a car might not be a bad way to pick up some insurance money.
'Midnight Cowboy' won three Oscars and was nominated for many other awards. It was sort of shocking and maybe offensive for its time but most people probably wouldn't be put off by it if it came out today.
5. 'Come on... Come on! Do it! Do it! Come on. Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Come on! Do it now! Kill me!' This quote was from what movie?

Answer: Predator

Near the end of the movie, Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was trying to lure the predator into a trap and he yelled at the creature. The man who played the predator (Kevin Peter Hall), also played the chopper pilot that flew Dutch away at the end of the movie.
6. 'Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Persian. Perhaps you should have done the same!' 'This is blasphemy! This is madness!' What does King Leonidas shout back?

Answer: 'Madness...? This is Sparta!'

Don't stand too close to the edge of the well if you are the messenger facing the King (Gerard Butler). The king kicked the messenger into the well after he had threatened the King, insulted the Queen (Lena Headey), and suggested slavery for all Spartans. '300' was released in 2006 and was about 300 Spartans fighting to their death against thousands of Persians in 480 BC at Thermopylae.
7. 'If there's anything in the world I hate, it's leeches - filthy little devils!' Know what movie this is from? Need more? How about 'What a time we had Rosie, what a time we had'. Think you got it now?

Answer: The African Queen

'The African Queen' was a movie classic from 1951, that was set during WW1. A missionary (Katharine Hepburn) decided to get back at the Germans for her brother's death by using the steamboat owned by a drunkard (Humphrey Bogart) to deliver a torpedo.

At one point, the boat got bogged down and Bogart had to get in the water and pull it along. Of course, he was covered with leeches when he got back in the boat.
8. What movie was this quote from? 'Look, you fools. You're in danger. Can't you see? They're after you. They're after all of us. Our wives, our children, everyone. They're here already. You're next!'

Answer: Invasion Of The Body Snatchers

This quote was from the 1956 version that starred Kevin McCarthy. The basic story has been told many times but the old one is great. One by one, people started acting strange, very subdued and not affected by much of anything. McCarthy and his girlfriend (Dana Wynter) figured out that when people fell asleep, a huge pod started to grow and soon resembled the sleeping person. If a person slept long enough, the human died and the pod became that person. Wynter fell asleep and woke to warn others about McCarthy.

He ran into traffic, screamed the lines above and tried to hitch a ride on a truck. As he lifted the canvas cover to climb in, he saw that the truck was full of pods.
9. Here's a quote from a timeless movie. Please pick the movie. 'I wonder how such a degenerated person ever reached a position of authority in the Army Medical Corps.' 'He was drafted.'

Answer: MASH

Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' O'Houlihan (Sally Kellerman) was talking about Captain Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and asked the question in the quote above of Father Francis Mulcahy (Rene Auberjonois). She was the butt of several jokes throughout the movie and was usually mad at Hawkeye and Trapper John - Captain John McIntyre (Elliott Gould).
If you got this question wrong or have never seen 'MASH', please rent the movie. It is a modern classic with one great quote after another. It was released in 1970, directed by Robert Altman, and in addition to those above, also starred Tom Skerritt, Robert Duvall, and Gary Burghoff.
It was the day to day story of a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital and sparked a TV series of the same name that ran for eleven years.
10. 'I throw the ball to who. Whoever it is drops the ball and the guy runs to second. Who picks up the ball and throws it to What. What throws it to I Don't Know. I Don't Know throws it back to Tomorrow, Triple play.' What duo made this famous?

Answer: Abbott and Costello

I've ended with a classic called 'Who's On First' by the unforgettable comic duo of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello. This skit was from the 1945 movie 'The Naughty Nineties'. Abbott was performing in a baseball uniform on a riverboat stage during the gay 90s. Costello was pretending to sell peanuts to the audience and interrupted Abbott.

The entire skit ran about six minutes in length.
