She's late for the concert, and does not know that Gallenberg was playing the "Pathetique" piano sonata in Ludwig's place. Little does Giulietta know that she is in for a big surprise in the near future.

Not only was Beethoven a composer of music, but he was also a composer of words. This particular letter was written to his Immortal Beloved. Historians have their own theories of who the letter's recipient was, but only Ludwig van Beethoven knows for sure.

In this scene Ludwig storms into Casper's home demanding he give him his sketches of a piece in the making. Casper tries to explain that he gave them back to him. Ludwig doesn't buy it and starts to curse at Casper's wife Johanna, accusing her of throwing them away.

The two brothers begin to fight. It ends when Casper falls over and starts bleeding from the mouth. Ludwig now realizes that his brother is dying of consumption. Another quick note, pertaining to the symphony, it is the only Beethoven symphony with five movements.

It is also one of his shortest symphonies, second only to the 5th symphony.

Giulietta's father purchases this pianoforte for the sole purpose of seeing if Ludwig can still play as he once did. Count Giucciardi will only let his daughter marry Ludwig if he passes their little test.

It is absolutely the most haunting part in the movie. Ludwig places the head board of the piano horizontally, then starts pounding nonsense away at the keys. Just as Giulietta has given up on him, he places his ear to the head board, and begins to play the frightening repetitive theme of the "Moonlight" Sonata. The old boy's still got it!

This is where the three Beethoven brothers discover this diamond in the rough. Casper swears to have her as his bride not knowing Ludwig already has a secret crush on her, and the two are having an affair.

Ludwig's father's main goal in life was to make Ludwig into another Mozart. He told the aristocrats that Ludwig was two years younger than he really was. Ludwig tried, but was never good enough for his father. The cruel treatment by Ludwig's father scarred him for life.

Only Beethoven knows the true identity of his Immortal Beloved. He dedicated his whole being to her. His passion for music and his passion for this mysterious woman mirrored each other. The man was truly in love, and it was reflected in his compositions. Even times when life became bitter, this man's passion gave him the drive to create some of the greatest music ever written.

He truly was a man of genius, and the father of the era of Romantic music.
