1. On her way to Paris, Kate met Luc Teyssier, a somewhat shady character intent on using Kate to smuggle a couple of items into France. In "French Kiss", why did Kate go to Paris?

Answer: To see her fiancé, who had broken up with her over the phone

Kate opted not to attend Charlie's convention with him, but after he called from Paris to say he had met someone else, she had to go and see him. On the plane she met Luc, who thought he could easily hide a plant and a stolen necklace in her bags, and then retrieve them after she had gone through customs.

He didn't count on everything that happened with her after that. Meg Ryan played Kate, and Kevin Kline played Luc, in "French Kiss" (1995).

3. In which movie was Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) told by the Captain, "What we've got here is failure to communicate"?

Answer: Cool Hand Luke

After being sent to a prison camp, Luke's refusal to be submissive to the brutal administration earned him the admiration of the other prisoners. "Cool Hand Luke" (1967) earned four Oscar nominations, including a Best Actor nod for Paul Newman, but George Kennedy's Best Supporting Actor Oscar was the only win.
4. Luke Skywalker was devastated when the evil Darth Vader told him that he hadn't killed Luke's father, he was Luke's father. In which "Star Wars" movie did this take place?

Answer: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

While training with Yoda on Dagobah, Luke had a premonition that his friends were in danger in Cloud City. He went there, but walked into the trap that Darth Vader had set for him. Luke duelled with Vader, who cut off Luke's hand with his lightsaber. After Luke accused Vader of killing his father, Vader said, "No. I am your father".

He tried to get Luke to join him against the Emperor, but Luke refused to go to the Dark Side. "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" was released in 1980. Luke was played by Mark Hamill, and Darth Vader was voiced by James Earl Jones.
5. After accepting her boyfriend Andrew's marriage proposal, designer Melanie Carmichael headed for Alabama to get divorce papers signed by Jake, the man she was still legally married to. Which character in "Sweet Home Alabama" was played by Josh Lucas?

Answer: Jake Perry

Jake and Melanie were childhood sweethearts who later married. Melanie left for New York when they couldn't make things work, and had been trying to get Jake to sign divorce papers, something he didn't want to do. Once she spent time with him again, Melanie realized her feelings for him were still there, but then Andrew showed up. Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas and Patrick Dempsey played Melanie, Jake and Andrew, respectively, in 2002's "Sweet Home Alabama".
6. Luke's ex-wife, and his kids, were at odds with his girlfriend, Isabel, in "Stepmom" (1998). Things became worse when he proposed to Isabel, but Jackie, Luke's ex-wife, realized she had to find a way for them all to get along once she knew she had cancer. Luke was played by Stellan Skarsgard.

Answer: False

Ed Harris played the part of Luke Harrison, who was happy with new love Isabel, but had to deal with a bitter ex-wife, as well as two kids who weren't happy that he wasn't with their mother. After Jackie found out about her cancer, she eventually came to terms with the fact that Isabel was going to raise her children once she was gone.

Ed Harris received Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominations for his roles in "Apollo 13", "The Truman Show" and "The Hours".
7. As an adult, Lukas Haas has appeared in "Last Days", "Material Girls" and "Alpha Dog". Which of these notable roles did he play as a child?

Answer: Samuel in "Witness"

Samuel Lapp was a young Amish boy who witnessed a murder while he was in Philadelphia with his mother, Rachel. Once police detective John Book found out that members of his department were involved in the murder, he helped Rachel and Samuel return safely home, and then stayed to recover from a gunshot wound. Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis played John Book and Rachel Lapp. "Witness" (1985) won two Oscar awards, and was nominated for eight, including Best Actor for Ford.

Answer: True

As well as the Best Director nomination, Lucas also received one for Best Original Screenplay, but lost both of them to Woody Allen for "Annie Hall". "Star Wars" (1977) was nominated for a total of 11 Oscars, winning seven of them. George Lucas was also nominated for Best Director for "American Graffiti" (1973).
9. On their last bombing mission, co-pilot Luke Sinclair's desire to do something exciting during the flight had a tragic, and unintentional result. In which movie did Tate Donovan play 1st Lt. Luke Sinclair?

Answer: Memphis Belle

In contrast to the over-cautious and by-the-book pilot of the Memphis Belle, Dennis, co-pilot Luke was cocky and caught up in the glamour of being a pilot. Feeling that he was the only one of the crew with nothing noteworthy to do, Luke asked the tail gunner to let him fire his weapon when the German fighters were attacking. Luke did hit one of the fighters, but as it dived it struck one of the other B-17's, cutting the plane in two. Anguished by what he'd caused, Luke was subsequently contrite and very helpful to Dennis, being instrumental in saving the plane after an engine was damaged. "Memphis Belle" was released in 1990, and starred Eric Stoltz, Matthew Modine, Sean Astin and Reed Diamond, among others.
10. Although he was friends with the popular Cappie, Lucas was still an outsider at his high school. When Cappie became interested in Lucas' new friend, Maggie, Lucas had to do something to get her attention. In "Lucas" (1986), what sport did Lucas participate in to impress Maggie?

Answer: Football

Lucas Bly befriended newcomer Maggie before school began, and sort of felt like she was his, since he had met her first. He was interested in being more than friends, but Maggie was attracted to Cappie, and the feeling was mutual. Lucas' friends thought he was committing suicide by joining the football team, but no one could talk him out of it.

His perseverance in bugging the coach got him into a game, but Lucas was injured during a play. The sensitive Lucas was brilliantly portrayed by Corey Haim; Kerri Green and Charlie Sheen played Maggie and Cappie.
