4. King Roderick: "The Duke. What did the Duke do?"
Hubert Hawkins: "Eh... the Duke do?"
King Roderick: "Yes. And what about the Doge?"
Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, the Doge!"
King Roderick: "Eh. Well what did the Doge do?"
Hubert Hawkins: "The Doge do?"
King Roderick: "Yes, the Doge do."
Hubert Hawkins: "Well, uh, the Doge did what the Doge does. Eh, uh, when the Doge does his duty to the Duke, that is."
King Roderick: "What? What's that?"
Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, it's very simple, sire. When the Doge did his duty and the Duke didn't, that's when the Duchess did the dirt to the Duke with the Doge."
King Roderick: "Who did what to what?"
Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, they all did, sire. There they were in the dark; the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his dart, Duchess with her dirk."
King Roderick: "Duchess with her dirk?"
Hubert Hawkins: "Yes! The Duchess dove at the Duke just when the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the Doge dodged, and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge, and the Doge got the Duke!"

"They don't have a choice! Bob Rumson is the only one doing the talking! People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand."
"Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved, who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference."

quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?" "Yes." "Morons." Did Westley and Inigo say these lines?

Answer: No

This an easily forgotten line from a very funny movie, "The Princess Bride". It is actually said between Vizzini and Westley, right before they have their battle of wits with the Iocaine powder. Since Vizzini has Buttercup, and Westley is trying to save her, they have this battle of wits to see who gets to keep her. Vizzini dies after drinking the Iocaine powder, so Wesley wins in the end.
2. "Now, if you two don't mind, I'm going to bed before either of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed. Or worse, expelled." "She needs to sort out her priorities." Who says these lines right after they have get back from an adventure around the castle?

Answer: Hermione and Ron

This is another clever line from "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" that is very funny. Hermione says it right after the threesome have gotten back from seeing the three-headed dog over the trapdoor. Hermione goes up to bed, and Ron says to Harry, "She needs to sort out her priorites."
3. Dr. Egon Spengler: "There's something very important I forgot to tell you." Dr. Peter Venkman: "What?" Dr. Egon Spengler: "Don't cross the streams." Dr. Peter Venkman: "Why?" Dr. Egon Spengler: "It would be bad." Dr. Peter Venkman: "I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean 'bad'?" Dr. Egon Spengler: "Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light." Dr. Raymond Stantz: "Total protonic reversal." Dr. Peter Venkman: "That's bad. Okay. Alright, important safety tip, thanks Egon." Is this from the first "Ghostbusters"?

Answer: Yes

This is when the Ghostbusters are getting ready to use their equipment for the first time. Dr. Spangler only thought that he should mention this tidbit of information before they used the proton packs for the first time.
4. King Roderick: "The Duke. What did the Duke do?" Hubert Hawkins: "Eh... the Duke do?" King Roderick: "Yes. And what about the Doge?" Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, the Doge!" King Roderick: "Eh. Well what did the Doge do?" Hubert Hawkins: "The Doge do?" King Roderick: "Yes, the Doge do." Hubert Hawkins: "Well, uh, the Doge did what the Doge does. Eh, uh, when the Doge does his duty to the Duke, that is." King Roderick: "What? What's that?" Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, it's very simple, sire. When the Doge did his duty and the Duke didn't, that's when the Duchess did the dirt to the Duke with the Doge." King Roderick: "Who did what to what?" Hubert Hawkins: "Oh, they all did, sire. There they were in the dark; the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his dart, Duchess with her dirk." King Roderick: "Duchess with her dirk?" Hubert Hawkins: "Yes! The Duchess dove at the Duke just when the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the Doge dodged, and the Duchess didn't. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge, and the Doge got the Duke!" What Danny Kaye movie is this from?

Answer: The Court Jester

This is from the movie "The Court Jester", where Danny Kaye plays a person who is trying to get the throne returned to the rightful heir. He really is Hubert Hawkins, but pretends to be Giacomo, 'The Court Jester'. Danny Kaye really works for the Black Fox, but is undercover as a court jester and uses clever wordplay to get the King confused, and it always works.
5. "Three murders." "Six all together." "This is getting serious." Is this line from the movie "Clue"?

Answer: Yes

This is another one of my favorite movies. This is right before Wadsworth explains how it is all done. The people have just gathered from everywhere they had been around the house, looking for the murderer. They have seen all the dead bodies that are from the murders that happened while they had been split up.
6. "Is this made from real lemons?" "Yes." "I only like all-natural foods and beverages, organically grown, with no preservatives. Are you sure they're real lemons?" "Yes." "I'll tell you what. I'll buy a cup if you buy a box of my delicious Girl Scout cookies. Do we have a deal?" "Are they made from real Girl Scouts?" Name that movie.

Answer: The Addams Family

I love this part between the Girl Scout, Wednesday and Pugsley. This is after the family has been kicked out of their house by a man pretending to be Uncle Fester, who doesn't know that he is their real uncle, but is just trying to get their money. Wednesday and Pugsley are trying to earn money.

The Addams are living at a motel and a Girl Scout comes up and tries to sell Girl Scout cookies to them. When they ask if there are really Girl Scouts in the cookies, she leaves. (Bit of trivia: The Girl Scout is also in the "Addams Family Values" as Amanda at camp.)
7. "What do you think I am? Dumb or something?" Who says this?

Answer: Lina Lamont

This is the first line that you hear Lina say anything in "Singin' in the Rain". Just remember her nice screechy voice. This line is after we see that Don won't let her speak at the Premiere of their new show. Everyone is congratulating Don on a job well done, and Lina answers with "What do you think I am? Dumb or something?" She says this since they won't let her talk, because she doesn't realize it is because of her screechy voice.

She thinks that it is because she might say something stupid. Lina tells them to write her a speech and she could memorize it.
8. "You have a deeper love of this country than any man I've ever known. And I want to know what it says to you that in the past seven weeks, 59% of Americans have begun to question your patriotism." "Look, if the people want to listen to-..." "They don't have a choice! Bob Rumson is the only one doing the talking! People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand." "Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved, who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference." Name the actors who say these lines.

Answer: Michael Douglas and Michael J. Fox

These lines are said by President Andrew Shepherd and his aide Lewis Rothschild in "The American President". This is when Lewis is accusing the President of not doing anything to be sure he is reelected as President. Instead, the President is having a love life during an election year. Lewis says that the President's opponent is doing something for the American people while the President is not.
9. "Everything in this room is eatable. In fact, I'm eatable, but that is called cannibalism, my dear children, which is frowned upon in many societies." Which actor says this?

Answer: Johnny Depp

This line is said by Willy Wonka in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" {2005}. They are in the room with the chocolate river and the chocolate waterfall. Willy Wonka says this line when he is explaining about the room, and everything being edible in it, but he says that it is "eatable" instead of "edible".
10. "Kings never cheat! They adapt to circumstances, but they never cheat!" Name that movie.

Answer: The Slipper and the Rose

This quote comes from the movie, "Slipper and the Rose" which was a musical made in 1976 with Richard Chamberlain as the prince and Gemma Craven as Cinderella. This "Cinderella" tells what the prince was going through. This line is said at the beginning of the movie when the King and Queen are playing a game and the King says it his turn.

The Queen knows that it is really her turn, so she accuses him of cheating. He answers her with "Kings never cheat! They adapt to circumstances, but they never cheat!"
