Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. At the beginning of the film, the narrator is struggling to find the perfect opening sequence. Which Disney movie does he start to steal from, but then decides against it?

Answer: The Lion King

"The Lion King" stars Simba, a young lion who feels he is not fit to be king. He feels responsible for the death of his father. But with the help of his friends, he realizes his rightful place in the pride and goes to take it back from his evil uncle Scar.

We see the sun rising and hear the African chant music, but the narrator changes his mind, stating it seems too familiar. He also dismisses the idea of showing a story book opening. He feels it is overdone. I must say, I agree.
2. He's not a doctor but he has played one on T.V. What actor lends his voice to help bring Chicken Little to life?

Answer: Zach Braff

Zach Braff plays the somewhat loveable doctor JD on the NBC, turned ABC, show "Scrubs". This is not the only place to hear the melodious tones of Mr. Braff's voice. He also used his vocal talents in the video game "Kingdom Hearts II".
3. During the dodgeball game, the coach splits the class into two teams. What method does the coach use to create the teams?

Answer: Popular vs. Unpopular

This is seen in the scene close to the beginning, after Chicken Little struggles to get to school on time. A very funny (at least in my opinion) exchange happens when Runt asks the coach a question. To acknowledge his presence, the coach simply says, "Yeah Unpopular?" It's one of those subtle jokes that can easily be overlooked, but funny if you catch it.
4. To what 2005 film does Fish pay homage?

Answer: King Kong

While still in the gym, after the dodgeball game, Fish constructs a paper replica of The Empire State Building. He climbs to the top of his model and uses paper airplanes to simulate the battle between King Kong and fighter planes. Fish assumes the role of King Kong.

The film "King Kong" is set in the 1930s. An overzealous movie producer gets his cast and crew to travel to Skull Island where they encounter the giant ape, King Kong. But in an unforeseen twist, Kong develops a little crush on leading lady, Ann Darrow.
5. Chicken Little celebrates his baseball team's victory by singing what Queen song?

Answer: We Are The Champions

"We Are The Champions" was written by Freddie Mercury, lead singer for the band Queen. It was recorded in 1977, the same year I was born. The song also makes an appearance in other films, such as "Revenge of the Nerds", "A Knight's Tale", and "High Fidelity".

Right after the baseball game, Chicken Little is seen singing this classic. Soon after he finishes, his father comes in to celebrate with him. They start to have an awkward conversation that would give each other closure, but embarrassment gets the better of them.

Chicken Little is seen at his home using a wooden spoon as a microphone. This has prompted my children to go and grab spoons during this scene to sing along with Chicken Little. One of the best parts of this movie is the soundtrack, featuring many classics, such as "I Will Survive" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart".
6. The piece of "sky" that hits Chicken Little on the head is most shaped like what traffic sign?

Answer: a stop sign

There is a scene where the piece of "sky" is in Chicken Little's room. Chicken Little experiments with the stop sign shaped piece of "sky" and realizes that it shows whatever is behind it; giving the illusion of invisibility. The first time it happens, Chicken Little raises the alarm and sends the town into a frenzy.

They believe it is simply an acorn that hits him on the head. This incident leads to much ridicule and disbelief from many, including his own father. How sad!
7. On the alien ship, there is a map that has Earth marked as the next planet to be destroyed by the aliens.

Answer: False

Earth IS marked; however, it is marked as the only planet where the aliens can find acorns. The alien parents explain this at the end, when their son is returned to them. They go on to explain that they visit the town of Oakey Oaks, just to get acorns, every year on their way to the in-laws.

This statement gives validation to Chicken Little that something actually did hit him on the head the previous year. The mother alien says that the panel is always falling off.
8. To whom does Chicken Little reveal that he has romantic feelings?

Answer: Abby Mallard

Abby Mallard is the rather homely looking best friend of Chicken Little. With her speech impediment and buckteeth, she is often the butt of jokes. But seeing as this is a regular occurrence, she lets it roll off her back like water off a duck (excuse the pun).

Right before they leave the theater to execute their plan to save the town, Chicken Little expresses his feelings to Abby and he gives her a rather steamy kiss. To be more specific a "foot-popping" kiss. I think this will pay off for him in the long run. Think about it, she is rather plain now, but when she turns into a swan, as I choose to believe she will, Abby will be smoking hot.
9. The aliens do not want to destroy the town; they only want to get their son back. What is the name of the alien child?

Answer: Kirby

Kirby is an enigma. He understands the English language, but he does not speak it. He speaks his native alien tongue. So I guess saying he is bilingual is not correct; he's more like 1.5 lingual. Little Kirby is accidentally left by his people. When his parents realize that he is left behind, they go back to get him, by any means necessary. To the inhabitants of Oakey Oaks, it seems like an alien invasion.

But in reality it is nothing more than a rescue mission.
10. At the end of the film, Hollywood decides to make a movie based on the exploits of Chicken Little.

Answer: True

The entire town comes to watch the movie premiere. The film shows that Hollywood has stayed close to the original story, only the way Hollywood can. I love how they get a super good-looking guy to play the dorky Chicken Little. That's like getting Will Smith (of "I Am Legend" and "I, Robot" fame) to play me in a movie.
We also see Abby and Chicken Little holding hands, suggesting their on-going relationship. In the end, Chicken Little earns the respect from the town, but more importantly, he earns it from his father.
