Answer: The American Breed

Originally recorded by The Outsiders in 1966, however, it is best known as a release by The American Breed which reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1968 and number 24 in the UK. Their version has also been featured on quite a few TV commercials including Flexon eye glasses, Mercedes-Benz and Gap Stretch Jeans.

The Honeycombs, from London, England, were a five piece group with a female as the drummer, Ann "Honey" Lantree. "Have I the Right?" was their first single and reached number one in the UK in 1964 and peaked at number five in the USA, also in 1964.
5. The Birds and the Bees

Answer: Jewel Akens

Jewel Akens (1933-2013) was an American singer and producer. Jewel had recorded with various groups in the past but for "The Birds and the Bees" he recorded as a solo artist. The song reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1965. Internationally it reached the Top 10 in Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and Norway.
6. Dancing in the Street

Answer: Martha and The Vandellas

"Dancing in the Street" was co-written by Marvin Gaye and recorded by Martha and the Vandellas in 1964, reaching number two in the USA and number four in the UK. It is a signature song of Motown. Over the years it has been recorded by the Mamas & the Papas, David Bowie and Mick Jagger, the rock group Van Halen, The Kinks and Grateful Dead.
7. Proud Mary

Answer: Creedence Clearwater Revival

Surprisingly, Creedence Clearwater Revival never had a number one hit in the USA. "Proud Mary" reached number two in March 1969. They had a total of five hits that reached number two. The group were only active from 1967-1972 and they performed at Woodstock in 1969.

Bobby's Girl" was performed by the teenager from New York, Marcie Blane. The song was released in 1962 and peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. It had sold over one million copies by the end of 1963 and was awarded a Gold Disc.
9. Black is Black

Answer: Los Bravos

Los Bravos were a beat group from Madrid, Spain and were the first Spanish group to make it into the Top 10 in the UK and USA. Peaking at number two in the UK and number four in the USA in 1966. The group were formed in 1965 but disbanded in 1968 upon the death of one of the founders, Manuel Fernández aged 23 years.
10. I Saw Her Standing There

Answer: The Beatles

"I Saw Her Standing There" was the B-side of their hit single "I Want to Hold Your Hand" which peaked at number one for seven weeks in January 1964 on the US Billboard Hot 100. "I Saw Her Standing There" could only peak at number 14 in February 1964.
