Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Don and Phil

Answer: The Everly Brothers

The Everly Brothers' close harmony influenced such groups as The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Hollies as well as duos like Simon and Garfunkel who recorded a cover version of "Bye Bye Love" which was the first Everly Brothers record to sell a million copies.
2. Gunnar and Matthew

Answer: Nelson

Gunnar and Matthew are the twin sons of the late Rick Nelson and his then wife Kristin Nelson. In addition to several hit recordings, they composed and sang the theme song for the movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure". The song was called "Two Heads Are Better Than One".
3. Dennis, Brian and Carl

Answer: The Beach Boys

Along with other group members, the Wilsons molded their close familial harmony into a distinctive sound that has spanned decades of popular music. The Beach Boys were a vital force in the popularity of surf music. Sadly, Brian is the only remaining Wilson brother but after a long period of emotional issues Brian Wilson resumed performing and touring.
4. Ann and Nancy

Answer: Wilson

Ann and Nancy Wilson were the nucleus of the group "Heart". Their first album was "Dreamboat Annie". It contained their first two hit singles: "Crazy On You" and "Magic Man".
5. Patty, Maxine and Laverne

Answer: The Andrews Sisters

The influence of The Andrews Sisters on female singing groups to follow cannot be overestimated. Their close harmony and stage presence made them popular partners for such crooners as Bing Crosby, Dick Haymes and their songs helped a nation at war get through some hard times.
6. Isaac, Zac and Taylor

Answer: Hanson

Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma Hanson began performing publicly as an a cappella singing group doing covers of 50s and 60s songs. But in 1997 they burst onto the national scene with their infectious pop hit "MMMBop" which topped the Billboard Hot 100. It would be their only number one record but they've continued to record and tour.
7. James, Alex and Livingston

Answer: Taylor

James Taylor is, of course, an icon in music. Alex was his oldest brother. James and Alex were among the original artists signed by Apple Records when it formed. While Alex and Livingston never achieved the success and star status of James they had successful careers. Alex sadly passed away in 1993.
8. Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie

Answer: The Browns

Originally billed as "The Three Browns" Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie got their first break as featured performers on Red Foley's popular TV show "Ozark Jubilee". Their first number one record "The Three Bells" not only topped the Billboard country chart but the pop chart as well. Jim Ed had a successful solo career beginning in the late 60s, but the siblings still performed together several times on TV shows even after Maxine and Bonnie retired from the business.
9. Kathy, Peggy, Diane and Janet

Answer: The Lennon Sisters

Always introduced by Lawrence Welk as "The Lovely Lennon Sisters" Kathy, Peggy, Diane and Janet were part of a family of 11 children. They made their first appearance on the Welk show on Christmas Eve, 1955.
10. Howard and David

Answer: The Bellamy Brothers

In addition to their own string of pop and country hits, David Bellamy also co-wrote the song "Spiders and Snakes" with Jim Stafford. Stafford scored a crossover hit with that song and financed the Bellamy's move to Los Angeles. Howard Bellamy became Stafford's road manager while he and David began to build their career.
