Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The most well-known line-up of The Kinks was Ray Davies, Dave Davies, Peter Quaife and Mick Avory?

Answer: True

Yup! That's them! Later members included John Dalton, John Gosling and a few others. And thanks to starstruck68 from Manchester, England for informing me that prior members included drummers John Start and Mickey Willet.
2. The Kinks hail from what city in England?

Answer: London

The Kinks are real Londoners. Beatles, Searchers, Gerry and the Pacemakers and others are from Liverpool. Mott the Hoople are (is?) from Birmingham, and I don't know anyone from York.
3. When the Kinks left Reprise, what record label did they go to?

Answer: RCA

Eventually they ended up at Arista with Clive Davis.
4. What is the name of the Kinks' recording studio?

Answer: Konk Studios

Thanks to player expwino from Wickford, UK for informing me that Konk Studios still exist!
5. During live concerts, while performing "Demon Alcohol", what object did Ray sometimes balance on his head?

Answer: A beer can

True! I've seen it!
6. In the song "Some Mother's Son" from "Arthur", how did the young soldier lose his life?

Answer: Head blown off

Truly a gorgeous anti-war song.
7. Who were the two characters in "Waterloo Sunset" who met every Friday night at Waterloo Station?

Answer: Terry and Julie

"Terry meets Julie, Waterloo Station, every Friday night..." And by the way, Raza is an ex-wife of Ray's who did the high harmony on this great song. Supposedly, Terry is Terrance Stamp and Julie is Julie Christie, two hot and up-and-coming movie stars of the day.
8. For which British sit-com did Ray Davies write the title song?

Answer: Till Death Do Us Part

"All In the Family" was indeed the American version of this show, as "Sanford and Son" was taken from the British show "Steptoe and Son".
9. From the concept album "Soap Opera", what deplorably tasteless items are hanging over the fireplace?

Answer: Ducks

Ducks! Ducks! Ducks on the wall!
10. From "Arthur" again, finish this lyric: "Opportunities available in all walks of life in..."

Answer: Australia

About the exodus of Britain's citizens to achieve a better life.
11. In "See My Friends" where were the friends playing?

Answer: Across the river

It had been rumored that these friends of Ray's bore singing about because of an "unusual" attribute: they were gay.
12. What was Dave Davies' big hit "solo" song?

Answer: Death Of A Clown

This was only touted as a solo effort. It was a Kinks song that Dave happened to have written.
13. Finish this line from "Apeman": "I'll keep you warm if..."

Answer: you'll keep me sane

This song has been in at least two movies I have seen.
14. From "Celluloid Heroes"- why should we not step on Bela Lugosi? "Because he's liable to . . ."

Answer: turn and bite

Beautiful, timeless song.
15. In "Fancy" what is the singer's love like?

Answer: A ruby

This is a little obscure, but I love the song.
