Ray Davies was the genius behind most of The Kinks material. In the 80's, he and Pretender Chrissie Hynde had a child.

I should clarify something; The Kinks never had much success in America, but during the 60's in the rest of the world, and especially England, The Kinks were on par with The Rolling Stones, The Who, and even The Beatles. So the underrated part really refers to American perceptions of The Kinks.

'The Village Green Preservation Society,' 'Arthur: And the Rise and Fall of The British Empire,' and 'Victoria,' to name a few.
