Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What band had the colors yellow and black?

Answer: Stryper

Stryper had the colors yellow and black. Their first album was "The Yellow and Black Attack". I have no idea why they chose these colors, but the band always told you why they chose the name. Isaiah 53:5: 'by his stripes we are healed'.
2. What band put out the album "State of Control"?

Answer: Barren Cross

Barren Cross released "State of Control" in 1989. This album put them on the map of Christian metal; they even got a video on MTV with this album. Too bad grunge music was just around the corner and killed it all.
3. What band sings the song "Hell No"?

Answer: Bride

Bride wrote the song "Hell No". I love this quote, "We won't go to, Hell No, we won't go". This band had so much potential, just not enough publicity.
4. What band did a remake of the old Rolling Stones song "Gimme Shelter"?

Answer: Holy Soldier

Holy Soldier did a great job remaking "Gimme Shelter". It was on their album, "Last Train", released in 1989.
5. What band did Oz Fox find?

Answer: Mass

Oz Fox, of Stryper, found and produced Mass. Their album, "Voices in the Night", is one I highly recommend.
6. In which band did Tim Gaines play?

Answer: Stryper

Tim Gaines was the last member to join Stryper. The other guys in the band knew him from a local band he played with, but Tim was not saved. Well, one night Tim got saved, quit his old band, and it just so happens that Robert and Michael Sweet were going to talk to him the very next day about joing Stryper...Tim took the job.
7. What was Stryper's original name?

Answer: Roxx Regime

That was their original name, but they changed it because of the scripture they use, Isaiah 53:5: 'by his stripes we are healed'.
8. For which band did Ken Tamplin sing and play guitar?

Answer: Shout

Ken was the powerful voice behind "Shout", and that he could do! He is an incredible guitarist also.
9. What band put out the albums "Weapons of our Warfare" and "What a Joke"?

Answer: Deliverance

These are just two of the many awesome albums put out by one of Christian metal's most powerful bands!
10. What band had Les Carlsen on vocals and David Zaffiro on guitar?

Answer: Bloodgood

This was an awesome combo. Les had a vocal range that seemed unstoppable and David was a guitar genius. In my opinion, their album "Out of the Darkness" was their greatest. It was released in 1989.
