1. The band was formed in 1963 in London by Dick Taylor and Phil May. Their name was taken from the song "Pretty Thing" which was first performed in 1955 by which famous American singer/songwriter?

Answer: Bo Diddley

"Pretty Thing" was written by Willie Dixon and was Diddley's third hit single. "You pretty thing, Let me buy you a wedding ring," are the opening lines of the song. John Mayall and Spencer Davis were British musicians.
