Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first track on my playlist is by none other than John Mellencamp in his first recorded album following a heart attack in 1994. According to my computer song info, it says that this track is from 1996 and off of the "Mr. Happy Go Lucky" album. The track currently reads "Key West ________ (I Saw You First)". Can you help me complete the name of this song title by choosing the word that fills in the blank?

Answer: Intermezzo

John Mellencamp, also known as John Cougar Mellencamp or John Cougar released his "Mr. Happy Go Lucky" album in 1996, two years after suffering a minor heart attack during his Dance Naked Tour in the summer of 1994. The album itself is believed to be a reflection of his brush with death and the album itself was a change in style from his 1980s music. "Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)" peaked at number fourteen on the US Billboard Charts, his last chart topper of the 20th Century.
2. Oddly enough, I don't remember being a dance fanatic, but I have a track by the Urban Cookie Collective that was released in 1993. According to my drive, it is titled "The Key, ________". I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. What words are missing from this song title?

Answer: The Secret

"The Key, The Secret" is considered to be one of the greatest dance anthems of the 1990s. Released on the British band Urban Cookie Collective's album "High On A Happy Vibe", it would peak on the UK Singles Charts at number two, the Dutch Singles Charts at number two, and the Australian ARIA Charts at number four in 1993.

While many thoughts on the meaning of the song came about, it was finally admitted by the band during a 2009 interview with David Balls of Digital Spy that the song was really about "taking magic mushrooms".
3. After looking at my screen and playlist once more, it appears that I have a top ten hit released in 1982. Bertie Higgins apparently had a song about a geographical location called "Key ________". What is this place that will finally help me complete this song title?

Answer: Largo

"Key Largo" peaked at number eight on the US Billboard Charts being Bertie Higgins only Billboard hit and placing him into the world of the One Hit Wonder. The lyrics to the track are drawn from "Casablanca" and "Key Largo", two classic films from the 1940s. In particular, the lyrics make reference to Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall from "Key Largo":

"We had it all
Just like Bogie and Bacall".
4. Ah yes! Finally a country tune! I look at my info in front of me and it mentions Kenny Chesney and a famous dessert. I would look it up, but my internet is out. All I have to go on is the album "Be as You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair)" and the track "Key ________". Can you help me finish this track name?

Answer: Lime Pie

The album "Be as You Are (Songs from an Old Blue Chair)" was intended to be a side project of Chesney's and did not release any singles. Oddly enough, it had enough airtime on the radio that the album reached number fifty-three on the US Country Charts in 2005. "Key Lime Pie" has the sound of a country drinking song and mixes in lyrics that are believed to be about the key lime pie dessert.

The country music based website "Whiskey Riff" has a recipe for Key Lime Pie using Chesney's own brand of rum, Blue Chair Bay.
5. My next song states that it is a little bit heavier under the genre Nu Metal. It also says that this Linkin Park track from their 2014 album "The Hunting Party" has the same name as a Motorhead track. My incomplete title is "Keys to the ________". What word finishes this track name?

Answer: Kingdom

Linkin Park's "Keys to the Kingdom", despite having the same name as a 2004 Motorhead song, they are both different tunes. Neither version was released as a single by either band, however, Linkin Park's track saw some success on the UK Rock Charts peaking in at number thirty-three. "Keys to the Kingdom" received relatively positive reviews despite the fact that it mixed an unusual combination of rap, hardcore, and underground compositions within it.
6. Apparently even more heavy is the band Tool. According to my screen in front of me, they released an album called "10, 000 Days" and recorded a track titled "Lost Keys (________)". What in the world could possibly finish this track name?

Answer: Blame Hoffman

The "10, 000 Days" album was noted for the tracks "Vicarious", "The Pot", and "Jambi" which all charted on the US Alternative Song Charts in 2006-07. Despite the success of the album itself, "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)" was not one of the tracks to be released as a single.

At just over three minutes in length, it is also the shortest track on the album before kicking into the eleven minute "Rosetta Stoned". Much has been made of the interpretation of the combination of the two tracks, however, in the book "Unleashed: The Story of Tool" by Joel McIver, "Rosetta Stoned" is a man's encounter with aliens who then falls into a coma. "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)" is a prologue of sorts between a nurse and a doctor about a patient that does not speak and is the aftermath of the encounter with the aliens.
7. In this one instance, my computer is allowing me to actually listen to a track, but of course, the song is an instrumental one and so I can't hear the name of the song anyways. This track on my playlist says that it was released in 1986 by a Greek keyboardist and composer named Yanni. I would like to input the name of this track, but will need your help to do so. How do I complete the title "Keys to ________"?

Answer: Imagination

In 1980, Greek keyboardist Yanni released his first solo album titled "Optimystique", but unfortunately did not see any success until 1984. In 1986, a demo tape was sent in a newly formed company called Private Music. Nearly flat broke, Yanni traveled to New York City and was offered a deal to re-record the music from his demo tape.

The album, his second, became known as "Keys to Imagination" and included a track of the same name and was recorded entirely from his home using a 32-track recording machine. Like much of his 1980s music, it focused heavily on synthesizers and electronics.

A third album titled "Out of Silence" was released in 1987 and also garnered little success. Finally, two years after "Keys to Imagination" was released, Yanni released his "Chameleon Days" record, giving him his first US Billboard Top New Age Album achievement, peaking in at number two that year.
8. Shucks! My computer is once again not letting me listen to my tracks. I really like rap music so this is a bummer. My insights tell me that 'Lil Wayne and Birdman released a song in 2006 that included a number in the title. What number finishes the incomplete track title "________ Key"?

Answer: 1st

The album "Like Father, Like Son", released on Halloween Day of 2006, was a collaborative effort from rappers 'Lil Wayne and Birdman and included guest performances featuring T-Pain, Rick Ross, and Tha Dogg Pound. While the track "1st Key" garnered little success and was not released as an official single, the album itself was quite successful landing in at number one on the US Billboard Top Rap Albums and US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. With the three successful singles "Stuntin' Like My Daddy", "Leather So Soft", and "You Ain't Know", the album also peaked in at number three on the US Billboard 200.
9. My final missing track title appears to be by German metal band Helloween included on a four-part album series. I almost have the full name to this thirteen minute track but instead it reads "Keeper of the ________ Keys". How should I be finishing the name to this track?

Answer: Seven

In 1987, German power metal band Helloween began a project that became known as "Keeper of the Seven Keys". Included in this project were their second studio album "Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part I" in 1987, their third studio album "Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part II" in 1988, their eleventh "Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy" released in 2005, and their 2007 live release "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy World Tour".

It was the Part II album that included the song "Keeper of the Seven Keys" and while the song was never released as a single (due to its thirteen minute length), the album itself was certified Gold in Germany, peaking at number five on the German Albums Chart.
10. Finally, I have all of my titles back. It looks like my computer is now fixed. But wait! There's one last problem. One of my artists names has gone missing! Which of the following musicians/bands sold over twelve million copies of their hit single "Fallin'" in 2001?

Answer: Alicia Keys

After dropping out of college in 1994 so that she could pursue a career in music, it wouldn't be until 2001 when Alicia Augello Cook, stage named Alicia Keys, released her first number one song. In 1997, Keys was recognized for her first professional recording after her song "Dah Dee Dah (Sexy Thing)" was included on the soundtrack to the award winning film "Men in Black".

In 2000 and 2001, she released two more songs, "Rock Wit U" and "Rear View Mirror" for the soundtracks to the movies "Shaft" and "Dr. Doolittle 2" respectively.

It was in June 2001 that Keys would get the break she deserved, nearly ten years after dropping out of school. She released the album "Songs in A Minor" produced by famed executive and producer Clive Davis that included the track "Fallin'".

The track landed at number one on the US Billboard Charts are remained on the charts for a total of 34-weeks. Keys success continued for the remainder of the 2000s with three other number one hits "My Boo" in 2004, "No One" in 2007, and as a feature on Jay-Z's song "Empire State of Mind" in 2009.
