Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Little Rock" was used as a title for both Reba McEntire and Collin Raye. What genre are they best known for?

Answer: Country

Reba McEntire's 1986 "Little Rock" referred to a diamond ring. Collin Raye's 1994 "Little Rock" mentions the city where a recovering alcoholic is trying to rebuild his life.
2. Roy Hamilton's "Hurt" was one of the last songs Johnny Cash recorded before his death.

Answer: False

R&B artist Roy Hamilton first recorded "Hurt" in 1954. His version was covered by a number of artists including Juice Newton, Bobby Vinton, Elvis Presley, and Timi Yuro.

The "Hurt" that Johnny Cash covered was written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails in 1995. The song was nominated for a Best Rock Song Grammy but lost to Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know." Michael Romanek, who worked with Nine Inch Nails, directed a video that featured a 71-year-old Cash in poor health. Cash died September of that year, just six months after wife June Carter Cash.
3. What song title is shared with Isley Brothers, Tears for Fears, and Ant & Dec?

Answer: Shout

The Isley Brothers originally wrote and recorded the song in 1959, which has been covered by many artists and featured in movies such as "Animal House."

Tears for Fears recorded their "Shout" in 1984. A remix was done in 2010 for the English national football team as promotion for the World Cup.

Ant & Dec's "Shout" was one of the group's final songs, released in 1997.

5. Annie Lennox, Ed Sheeran, and Gary Barlow have all recorded songs simply entitled "Sing," but the most famous may be the 1971 version made popular on what children's TV show?

Answer: Sesame Street

Joe Raposo wrote the song that would become a signature song for "Sesame Street." Barbra Streisand recorded a version in 1972, but it was the Carpenters who made it a hit in 1973, reaching number three on the US pop charts. Bing Crosby, Julie Andrews, Kristin Chenowith, and Sammy Davis, Jr. have recorded versions.
6. Whose version of "It's My Life" did No Doubt cover in 2003?

Answer: Talk Talk
