Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I found Lucifer in his study, a caged bird singing near by, he sighed, "This number of perfection thing is all wrong, I'm no fan of wonders or seals and there are far too many churches in Asia." He was apparently reading Revelation 1:4 and I knew he was talking about what number?

Answer: 7

You'd think Lucifer was a fan of seven as the number of deadly sins, but perhaps six is more to his liking being the number of the Beast. This question references the following verse.

Revelation 1:4-6 (KJV) - "John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne..."

Revelation goes on to identify the locations of these seven churches to include Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.

Additional clues, the photo is of the Coliseum in Rome, a city built upon seven hills.

The Beatles clue from "And Your Bird Can Sing" includes the lyrics, "And say you've seen the seven wonders, and your bird is green..."
2. As he was looking a little blue, I tried to give ole Lucifer a hug. He rebuffed my advances, pointed at Revelation 2:4 and snarled, "It doesn't make the world go round and isn't all that is needed. SEE, even Ephesus left the first one." I identified his rejection of what attribute?

Answer: love

Revelation 2:4 is directed to the Asian church of Ephesus stating (in the KJV), "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

Throughout the Bible, love is frequently mentioned as it is today in modern society. The Beatles said all you needed was love, and the Bible tends to concur, breaking love into four types:

Storge--the feeling of sharing and understanding the feelings of another.
Philios--the feeling of connection and bond to a good friend.
Eros--romantic love for a partner.
Agape--the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and his boundless willingness to forgive and abide with man.

Photo clue is that of the great menace, the love bug, a march fly that fill the spring air and splat upon many a vehicle.

The Beatles clue from "All You Need Is Love" is self explanatory for the purpose of a clue.
3. Lucifer began to dust a collection on a shelf, but the dust magically and mysteriously reappeared. Lucifer shrugged, suggesting that like Sisyphus, his efforts were futile. He pointed to Revelation 2:17 and said, "rolling or not, even God likes these." I took that to mean he was talking about what?

Answer: stones

There are references to rocks all through the Bible, from ones that cry out if the Word of God is suppressed in Luke 19 to stones identifying the names of the redeemed in Revelation 2:17 (KJV), "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it."

Additional clues include referencing Sisyphus who perpetually attempted to roll a rock/stone up a hill.

Photo clue is a statue of Saint Stephen, the first known Christian martyr, who was stoned to death.

The Beatles clue from "Dig It" includes the lyrics, "Like a rolling stone, like a rolling stone, like the FBI and the CIA and the BBC, BB King..."
4. I returned to Lucifer just before dawn. He yawned and stretched, the effort making him glow brilliantly and briefly. "Your prospects were good, but it's understood waking without the light mentioned in Revelation 2:28-29 is difficult." I nodded knowing he was speaking of which light-producing object?

Answer: star

The name "Lucifer" has long been associated to the Lord of Darkness, although the irony is that Lucifer is Latin for "light bringing", as the Bible referenced him as being an angel of light. Of course, he would be associated to the morning star, which likely wasn't the intent of Revelation 2:28-29 (KJV), "And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

Photo clue is of the "morning star"...otherwise known as the planet, Venus. Technically not a star, it reflects the light of our own Sun.

The Beatles clue from "Drive My Car" includes the lyrics, "Baby, you can drive my car. Yes, I'm gonna be a star."
5. BANG BANG! I jumped as Lucifer whipped out his finger and shot past me...at a raccoon. In hell? "Danny boy impressed me with that showdown, because like raccoons and Revelation 3:15-16, I like things a little...", Lucifer paused. "A little what?", I say.

Answer: hot

Revelation 3:15-16, speaks of the Asian church of Laodicia as being "lukewarm" and thus rejected of God and man. "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." (KJV)

Photo clue is that of burning coals which are pretty hot, upwards of 600-degrees Fahrenheit.

The Beatles lyrical clue from "Rocky Raccoon" points to Daniel getting "hot" in the gun duel. I'm pretty sure that Lucifer's finger gun shoots projectiles and he's accustomed to the "hot" described in Revelation 21:8, as a his home being a lake of "fire and brimstone." Brimstone is the burning of sulfuric rock, upwards of 230-degrees Fahrenheit.
6. A few days later, I returned to hell to visit. I tried to gently get Lucifer's attention as he was napping but he startled screaming, "Maxwell! Is that you?" Realizing it was just me, he pointed to Revelation 3:20 laying open in his lap and said he had issues with people coming through what?

Answer: doors

Revelation 3:20 (KJV), "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me," speaks of the effort at which Christ seeks those that will follow him and the ease of being a believer.

Lucifer most definitely has issues with doors, after all, John 10:7 details Christ speaking saying, "...I am the door."

Photo clue is that of many doors.

The Beatles clue from "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" includes the lyrics, "But as she's getting ready to go, A knock comes on the door."
7. Lucifer invited me into his sitting room and said, "dear Sir or Madam, I'm feeling a bit confused and don't understand this object bearing seven seals." Not wanting to embarrass him, I merely pointed at Revelation 5:1 and helped him identify a what?

Answer: book

Revelation talks of several books, from the Lamb's Book of Life in Revelation 13( containing the names of the redeemed) to this slightly more sinister book in Chapter 5. "And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals." (KJV) Nobody was initially found worthy to open this book until Jesus does and the book brings forth the horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Photo clue is that of the Long Room in the library at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. It contains over 200,000 books, some over a thousand years old.

The Beatles clue from "Paperback Writer" (a paperback being a book) including the lyrics, "Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book? It took me years to write, will you take a look?"
8. Lucifer got all up in my ears and in my eyes and said, "pay attention to Revelation 6:6 if you're wanting to pay the ferryman properly, wouldn't want to be stuck in the pouring rain now, would you?" I thought it a very strange thing to say, but agreed it is best to be prepared with how much money?

Answer: a penny

Revelation 6:5-6 details what you can buy for a penny, "And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine."

I found it interesting to think about coins and the dead...Charon the ferryman to the underworld requiring a coin to cross the river Styx and coins placed on the eyes or in the mouth of a dead man for much the same reason.

The photo clue is that of copper pots, copper being the primary metal of choice for pennies.

The Beatles clue from "Penny Lane" including the lyrics, "Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue suburban skies"
9. Today, Lucifer was rather sullen while reading Revelation 7:16-17. The utter darkness of the room closed in as he mumbled, "It's not all right, it doesn't come here any longer, and those that thirst no more no longer need it anyway." What on earth is it he's referencing?

Answer: the sun

The Beatles cherished the coming of the sun, but the faithful referenced in Revelation 7:16-17 no longer need it. "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes."

Photo clue is that of a solar eclipse, the Sun and its corona coming out of the shadow of the moon.

The Beatles clue comes from "Here Comes the Sun", which includes the lyrics, "...here comes the sun and I say it's all right."
10. I checked my Omega watch and stood to leave. Lucifer watched me gather my belongings. "Are you going to be in my dreams tonight?" he whispered tapping the page open to Revelation 22:12-14. I nodded, understanding that all things must what?

Answer: end

For all the dark prophecy of the book, Revelation 22:12-14 always gives me great comfort. "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." (KJV)

These are the final words of promise that Lucifer (in his eternal jealousy) can not touch when considering God's relationship with man. I definitely love a happy ending.

Photo clue is that of a dead end road sign, chosen as it indicates the conclusion of something as this is the concluding question.

The Beatles lyrical clue from "The End" including the lyrics, "Are you gonna be in my dreams tonight ... And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make."
