Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was Cain speaking of when he asked God, "Am I my brother's keeper"?

Answer: Abel

Cain, a farmer of the land, was jealous of Abel when the younger brother sacrificed a lamb to God and God loved the sacrifice. Cain killed Abel in jealousy and asked God the above mentioned quote when God asked about Abel's whereabouts. God banished Cain to Nod, east of the Garden of Eden, and put a mark on his forehead so no one would try to kill him.
2. While having a meal with His disciples in the upper room of a home, Jesus told his disciples to eat the bread (his flesh) and drink the wine (his blood) that He gave them. He said "Do this in remembrance of Me". Where were the disciples when Jesus told them this?

Answer: Last Supper

On the day of Passover, Jesus sent John and Peter to find a place for them to have supper. Jesus explained to the men that they would meet a man while he was gathering water and that man would show them to a room where they could eat. Jesus handed out the bread and wine for the disciples to eat and asked them to eat of the bread and wine as a way to always have Jesus with them. Jesus celebrated His last supper with the disciples in the upper room of a building hours before he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, one of his twelve disciples.
3. What phrase begins John 3:16?

Answer: For God so loved the world

These were the words that Jesus spoke to the Pharisee Nicodemus while speaking about how Nicodemus could become a child of God. John 3:16, "For God so loved the word that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
4. "Give us this day our daily bread" is a quote found in what prayer in the Bible?

Answer: Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13 is considered the Lord's prayer. When the disciples asked Jesus how they could pray, Jesus gave them this prayer. In the Catholic church, the last two lines of the Lord's prayer are excluded when said.

Jabez's prayer can be found in I Chronicles 4:10.
Jonah's prayer can be found in Jonah 2:2-9.
Hannah's prayer can be found in I Samuel 2:1-10.

The Lord's prayer is also known as the disciple's prayer.
5. Which of these statements is not one of the ten commandments?

Answer: Thou shalt not waste money

The Lord gave Moses the ten commandments while Moses was standing atop Mt. Sinai. The ten commandments were written on two stone tablets. The Lord meant for the Israelites to have these laws as requirements that should be followed every day. Once the ten commandments were given to Moses, they were to become the basis for how every Israelite law was established.
6. What book of the Bible begins with "In the beginning"?

Answer: Genesis

Genesis is the first book of the Bible. The book starts with the beginning of creation and ends with the death of Joseph.
7. "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want" is a quote from what book of the Bible?

Answer: Psalms

Psalm 23 is the best known of the Psalms. David wrote Psalm 23 as a song of comfort. David refers to God as his shepherd, and with Him David does not need to worry about being alone or afraid.
8. When Jesus was quoted as saying, "I thirst" while hanging on the cross, what was he given to drink?

Answer: Sponge of vinegar

After asking for a drink and receiving a sponge of vinegar, Jesus said 'It is finished' and He died. After being taken from the cross, Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus placed Jesus in a new sepulchre close to Golgotha, where He was crucified.

While hanging on the cross, Jesus is reported in the Gospels to have made seven statements before he died.

1.)"Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." Luke 23:34
2.)"Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43
3.)"Woman, behold thy son. Behold Thy mother." John 19:26-27
4.)"My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me." Matthew 27:46
5.)"I thirst." John 19:28
6.)"Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit." Luke 23:46
7.)"It is finished." John 19:30
9. Who was quoted as telling Mary, "Do not be afraid, Mary"?

Answer: Gabriel

Gabriel was an archangel sent by God to tell the young woman about the impending birth of her son. Gabriel appeared before Daniel, Zechariah, Joseph and Mary. Gabriel is one of only two archangels mentioned by name in the Bible.
10. "All we like sheep have gone astray" is a quote from whom?

Answer: Isaiah

Isaiah made this statement in Isaiah 53 when he was describing the people of Israel as wandering away from God. Sheep can be stubborn animals who do what they want. They are also easily led, and follow their fellow sheep even when it is not in their best interests. Isaiah is comparing the Israelites to sheep and the farther away they stray from God, the more likely they are to sin against Him.
