Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the lists of names of women below, which one contains four characters who are mentioned in only Genesis and NOWHERE ELSE in the Old and New Testaments using the KJV, NKJV and the NIV?

Answer: Adah, Zillah, Judith, Asenath

Using the KJV, NKJV and the NIV, the names Adah, Zillah, Judith and Asenath appear in only Genesis, the first book of the Old Testament. For the record, Adaha and Zillah were both married to Lamech, as per Genesis 4:19 and Judith was married to Esau, as per Genesis 26:34. Meanwhile, Asenath was the wife of Joseph, as per Genesis 41:45.

While the names Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Leah all appear in Genesis, it must be pointed out the names can be found in other books in both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Bible.

Meanwhile, the names Bathsheba, Abigail, Ahinoam, Michal, Miriam, Hannah, Peninnah, Cozbi do not appear in Genesis, but in other books.
2. Out of the lists of names of women below, which one contains four characters who were once unable to conceive and then miraculously gave birth to bouncing baby boys?

Answer: Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Hannah

Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel and Hannah were once unable to conceive but things changed dramatically thanks to divine intervention. All four instances are from the Old Testament.

In a nutshell, Sarah gave birth to Isaac; Rebekah gave birth to Jacob and Esau; Rachel gave birth to Joseph and Benjamin whiled Hannah gave birth to Samuel.

In the case of Sarah, Scripture states she was ninety-years-old and her husband Abraham was one hundred when they became parents of Isaac.

Meanwhile, 1 Samuel 2:21 states Hannah, after being unable to conceive for the longest period, gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Apart from Samuel, no names are given for the other children.
3. Out of the lists of names of women below, which one contains four characters who were married more than once?

Answer: Tamar, Abigail, Bathsheba, Samaritan woman at the well

Tamar, Abigail, Bathsheba and the Samaritan woman at the well were all married more than once.

Tamar, the daughter-in-law of Judah, was married to Er and then Onan after Er died. Abigail was married to Nabal and then became the wife of David after Nabal was struck dead in a case of divine retribution. Bathsheba was married to Uriah and after he was killed she married David.

Meanwhile, the Samaritan woman at the well had five different husbands, as per John 4:18.

There is no documentation in Scripture about the twelve other women in the three other options having more than one husband.
4. Out of the lists of names of men below, which one contains four characters who had more than one wife?

Answer: Jacob, Lamech, Elkanah, Rehoboam

Lamech, Elkanah, Saul and Rehoboam all had more than one wife, according to Scripture.

Going strictly by Scripture, Lamech was the world's first bigamist with Genesis 4:19 telling of him being married to Adah and Zillah. Jacob also had two wives, Rachel and Leah, as per Genesis 35:23-24. Meanwhile, Elkaneh the father of Samuel, also had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah, as per 1 Samuel 1:2.

Rehoboam, the man who replaced his father Solomon as king of Israel, had no less than eighteen wives and sixty concubines, as per 2 Chronicles 11:21. The same verse states Rehoboam was the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
5. Out of the lists of names below, which one contains the four characters who visited Job?

Answer: Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar, Elihu

Jab was initially visited by three friends -- Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar -- after he suffered a series of calamities. However, a fourth friend, Elihu, visited later as per Job 32:1.

According to Scripture, Eliphaz was a Temanite, Bildad a Shuhite, Zophar a Naamathite and Elihu a Buzite.

All the other characters given as possible answers are not mentioned in the Book of Job.
6. Out of the lists of cities below, which one contains four communities in which believers received letters from Paul, as per the New Testament?

Answer: Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi, Colosse

Members of the early church at Galatia, Ephesus, Philippi and Colosse received letters from Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. The letters, or books, have become known as Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. For the record, Galatia, Ephesus and Colosse were ancient cities in Asian Minor, now known as Turkey, while Philippi is in Greece.

Out of the names of the twelve other cities given as possible answers, none of them are identified with the title of a book in the Old or New Testaments.
7. Out of the lists of cities below, which one contains four communities which are mentioned in Revelation?

Answer: Smyrna, Pergamos, Sardis, Laodicea

Smyrna, Pergamos, Sardia and Laodicea are all mentioned in Revelation. In fact, they are four of the seven churches that John, the author of Revelation, received divine instructions to inform about his vision while on the island of Patmos.

The three other churches were Ephesus, Thyatira and Philadelphia.

For details about the seven churches, see Chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation.
8. Out of the lists of names below, which one contains the names of two sets of husband-wife teams -- one good, one bad -- from the New Testament?

Answer: Aquila & Priscilla; Ananias & Sapphira

The two sets of husband-wife teams from the New Testament are Aquila and Priscilla and Ananias and Sapphira. Aquila and Priscilla were tireless workers in the early church and Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, credits them with risking their lives for him, as per Romans 16:3-4. Ananias and Sapphira were also connected with the early church but they were struck dead by God because they lied about the amount of money they donated from the sale of property they owned. Details about Ananias and Sapphira can be found in Acts 5:1-11.

Out of all the other names listed as possible answers, there is no indication in Scripture any of them were husband-wife teams.
9. Out of the lists of names below, which one contains the names of four people mentioned by Paul in Romans 16?

Answer: Adronicus, Urbanus, Tryphena , Tryphosa

The names Adronicus, Urbanus, Tryphena and Tryphosa can be all found in Romans 16. The chapter contains an extensive list of names of people to whom Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, extends personal greetings.

Out of the twelve other names listed as possible answers, none can be found in Romans 16.
10. Out of the lists of names below, which one contains the names of two sets of brothers from the New Testament?

Answer: Peter & Andrew; James & John

The two sets of brothers in the New Testament are Peter and Andrew as well as James and John. All four were members of the original Twelve Disciples.

Out of all the other names listed, there is no indication in Scripture they were related, let alone being brothers.
