Each Question Has Three Answers -- #2 Quiz

After doing a series of Bible quizzes in which each question has two answers, I thought it would be fitting to compile some quizzes in which each question has three answers. The NKJV was used for this quiz.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Out of the names below, which three were the main patriarchs of the Israelite nation?

Answer: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob

The three patriarchs of the Israelite nation were Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham was the father of Isaac and the grandfather of Jacob, who was also known as Israel.

Genesis 15 tells of God making a covenant with Abraham, who was known as Abram at the time. As part of the covenant, God promised Abraham his descendants would be as many as the stars in the sky and the land in and around Canaan would be allocated to his descendants.
2. Out of the names below, which three were the main matriarchs of the Israelite nation?

Answer: Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel

Out of the options given, the correct answer is Sarah, Rebekah and Rachel. However, Rachel's sister Leah, is also regarded as a matriarch of the Israelites.

Sarah was married to Abraham while Rebekah was married to Isaac and Rachel and Leah were both married to Jacob. Sarah was the mother of Isaac while Rebekah was the mother of Jacob and Esau.

Rachel was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin while Leah was the mother of six sons and one daughter -- Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun and Dinah.
3. Out of the names below, which three were friends of Job who attempted to comfort him after he was beset by a series of calamities?

Answer: Eliphaz, Bildad, Zophar

The three friends who attempted to console Job after he was beset by a series of calamities wee Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. (A fourth friend, Elihu would visit Job later.)

While Job's friends attempted to comfort him, Scripture indicates they only added to his problems. The Book of Job tells of Job losing his ten children and immense wealth and then ending up with extremely poor health. There is a happy ending to the story, however. Scripture states Job regained his health, became the father of ten more children and ended up with twice as much wealth as he had before.
4. Out of the names below, which three were the daughters of Job?

Answer: Jemimah, Kezia, Keren-Happuch

The three daughters of Job were Jemimah, Kezia and Keren-Happuch, as per Job 43:14. The daughters, as well as seven sons, were born to Job in his later years, after he had experienced immense suffering and pain. Job 43:15 states, "in all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers."

The first chapter of Job tells of Job having three other daughters, but they were killed along with their brothers when a violent windstorm destroyed the house they were in. No names are given in Scripture for the three daughters who were killed.
5. Out of the names below, which three were murderers?

Answer: Cain, Moses, David

Cain, Moses, David were all murderers.

Genesis 4 tells of Cain murdering his brother Abel in a severe fit of jealousy while Exodus 2 tells of Moses killing an Egyptian man who was beating a Hebrew man. No names are given in Scripture for the Egyptian man or for the Hebrew man.

Meanwhile, 2 Samuel 11 tells of David orchestrating the death of Uriah, the soldier husband of Bathsheba. David orchestrated the murder after he had an adulterous affair with Bathsheba and she became pregnant while Uriah was away in battle.
6. Out of the names below, which three were prophets of God?

Answer: Elijah, Elisha, Nathan

Elijah, Elisha, Nathan were all prophets of God and their names and exploits appear multiple times in the Old Testament. However, there is no documentation in Scripture about Absalom, Adonijah, Abel, Zelophehad, Jairus, Jaziz, Cyrus, Eliab and Bartimaeus being prophets of God.

Elijah is perhaps best known for defeating four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal in a showdown on Mount Carmel while Nathan is known for rebuking David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba and ordered the death of her husband Uriah. Meanwhile, Elisha was an understudy of Elijah and is known for the raising of a son of a Shunammite woman from the dead.
7. Out of the names below, which three were among the spies who returned from Canaan with a negative report for Moses?

Answer: Shammua, Igal, Gaddi

Scripture tells of Moses commissioning twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan with only Joshua and Caleb returning with a positive report. Among the ten spies who returned with a negative report were Shammua, Igal and Gaddi. (See Numbers 13.)

Scripture goes on to tell of the Israelites following the advice of Joshua and Caleb and occupying Canaan, known as the Promised Land. Meanwhile, Numbers 14:37 states the ten spies who returned with a negative report "died by the plague before the LORD."
8. Out of the names below, which ones constitute three sets of siblings from the New Testament?

Answer: Peter & Andrew; James & John; Mary & Martha

The three sets of siblings from the lists of names from the New Testament are Peter and Andrew, James and John, Mary and Martha.

Peter and Andrew as well as James and John were members of the original Twelve Disciples. Meanwhile, Mary and Martha lived in Bethany and their brother Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus, as per John 11.
9. Out of the names below, which three were workers in the early church?

Answer: Silas, Timothy, Barnabas

Silas, Timothy and Barnabas were all workers in the early church, often laboring alongside Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. There is no documentation in Scripture about any of the other nine characters given as possible answers being involved in the early church.

In fact, some of the characters, like Demetrius, were strongly opposed to Christianity, as per Acts 19:24. (It should be pointed out there is another man called Demetrius in 3 John 1:12, who is described as having a good testimony. The question, however, is based on which one of the four possible answers contains the names of three workers in the early church.)
10. Out of the names below, which three were followers of Jesus Christ BEFORE His crucifixion?

Answer: Mary Magdalene, Salome, Susanna

Details of Mary Magdalene, Salome and Susanna being followers of Christ before the crucifixion can be found in the four Gospels. And while Lydia, Dorcas, Eunice, Lois, Rhoda, Euodia and Syntyche were apparently Christians, there is no documentation in Scripture they followed Christ before the crucifixion. Meanwhile, there is no documentation in Scripture that Drusilla, the wife of Felix, was a Christian.
