Yorke went on to make 232 appearances, scoring 73 goals, at Villa. In August 1998, he joined Manchester United, where he was part of the 1998-99 "Treble" winners: the Premiership, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League titles all in the same year.

After this, the club began to suffer financial difficulties and looked at moving out of London, with Dublin and Cardiff as possible destinations. However in 2003, the club opted to move to Milton Keynes. Fans who were not happy with this move created their own non-league team called AFC Wimbledon.
A year later, at the end of the 2004 season, the club renamed itself Milton Keynes Dons FC or MKDons. This spelled the end of Wimbledon FC.
