1. What player was the second in history to hit 60 home runs?

Answer: Roger Maris

After the Babe's stint in 1927, Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961, both players doing this in a Yankee uniform. It would be another 37 years before it would happen again, with McGwire and Sammy Sosa in 1998.
2. Who was the first Pittsburgh Pirate to win a Cy Young Award?

Answer: Vernon Law

Law is the only National Leaguer listed. He won the award in it's 5th presentation in 1960. He earned it with a 20-9 record. Pittsburgh hurler Doug Drabek also won the award in 1990.
3. Which of these four players is tallest?

Answer: Randy Johnson

Randy is more than a foot taller than the others, with Pendleton the taller of the other 3 at 5'9". Johnson, pitching for the Diamondbacks in 2003, remains listed at 6'10".
4. How many bases did Ty Cobb steal in his rookie season?

Answer: 2

Known as the 'Georgia Peach', Cobb stole only two bases in 1905 in the Detroit uniform. In 1915, he set the record for stealing 96. This record would stand for almost 50 years, until Maury Wills broke it in 1962 with 104.

The 'Straw' set the league on fire with his rookie year. After 8 Met seasons he became a Dodger. After 3 seasons with the Dodgers, he then became a San Francisco Giant for 1 season. The rest of his career was with the Yankees. His last season was in 1999.

Answer: Barry Bonds

Bonds was the only Giant listed who reached 10. In his 'off' year, after smacking 73 big ones the previous season, he hit 46 to lead the club. Jeff Kent was his runner-up with 37.
7. Nolan Ryan was a rookie with what team?

Answer: New York Mets

The Mets was the only team listed that Ryan played with. Along with the Mets, Nolan played for the Angels, Astros, and Rangers. His career spanned 27 seasons, and has enough awards and records to make anyone go blind. Ironically, Ryan never won a Cy Young Award.
8. Which of the following team names, did the Cleveland Indian franchise NOT use in their history?

The franchise was named the Blues in 1901 for only one season. In 1902 they became the Bronchos, again for only one season. In 1903, the name Naps seemed to stick, at least until 1914. The Indians began their reign in 1915. After 6 seasons, they would taste their first World Series Championship under the guidance of Tris Speaker.
9. How many World Series did the Washington Senators win?

Answer: 1

The Senators, began their franchise in 1901 along with many other teams. Making 3 trips to the promised land, they only won at their first appearance in 1924. They beat the New York Giants 4 games to 3. The team was led by the bats of Roger Peckinpaugh and Goose Goslin, and the arm of Walter Johnson.
10. Who led the Major League in hits for the 2002 season?

Answer: Alfonso Soriano

In his 4th season with the Yankees, he topped his previous high by 55 hits from 2001. In 2002, Soriano hit 209 times, 39 home runs, and 102 RBI's. He ran a distant 3rd in American League voting in 2002, behind Alex Rodriguez, and winner Miguel Tijeda of the Athletics.
