1. Which of the following pitchers, picked off 3 batters on base, in the same inning in 1983?

Answer: Tippy Martinez

The other pitchers retired before the 1970 season. Martinez of the Orioles, pitched in relief on August 24th, and picked off Blue Jays' Barry Bonnell, Dave Collins, and Willie Upshaw. This was in the 10th inning of the game. Baltimore won the game in the bottom of the 10th, 7-4.
2. Both the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers moved out west, and played their first season on the west coast in which year?

Answer: 1958

Managers Bill Rigney (Giants) and Walter Alston (Dodgers), transitioned the teams from New York, to be even greater rivals on the west coast.
3. Jose and Ozzie Canseco were brothers. Who is older?

Answer: They were both born on the same day

Both Jose and Ozzie were born on the same day, July 2, 1964, in Havanna. Jose debuted in September of 1985 with Oakland, while Ozzie debuted 5 years later in July 1990. Ozzie played for 3 seasons in very limited duty, retiring in 1993.

Answer: Ted Williams

The others listed have played with at least 6 different teams in their career. Williams played 19 loyal seasons with the Red Sox. He won 2 Triple Crown Awards and 2 MVP's. If it were not for his missing 3 seasons due to World War II in the prime of his career, there's no telling what he might have accomplished.
5. What team was once called the Alleghenys?

Answer: Pittsburgh Pirates

The other teams listed, began their franchise as their listed name throughout the entire 20th century. The Alleghenys began the Pittsburgh franchise from 1882-1890, then became the Pirates. It is one of the oldest franchises in baseball history. The Pirates won 3 consecutive National League titles in 1901, 1902, and 1903, and lost the first Worlds Series in 1903 to Boston, 5 games to 3.
6. I won 6 Cy Young Awards in my career, with all 3 American League teams that I have played with in my 20 seasons. The other pitchers listed, won multiple Cy Young Awards, but at least one in both the American and National League. Clemens did this all with 13 seasons in Boston, 2 in Toronto, and 5 with the New York Yankees. He is an absolute cinch for the Hall of Fame, but which team will he stand by, the Red Sox or the Yankees?
7. The great Willie Mays won how many Rookie of the Year Awards, during his 22 season career?

Answer: 1

He won the award in the only season that he was eligible in 1951. This future star of the New York Giants hit 20 home runs along with 127 hits. He won the National League MVP in 1954, and amazingly enough, won the same award 11 seasons later in 1965. This Hall of Famer retired in 1973 with 660 home runs.
8. McCovey Cove in San Francisco, was named after what player?

Answer: Willie McCovey

Willie 'Mac', or 'stretch' as he was nicknamed, blasted 521 career home runs, mostly with the Giants. All but 52 hit were as a Giant. This first baseman won the Rookie of the Year in 1959, then won the National League MVP 10 years later. He is a member of baseball's Hall of Fame.
9. What team won the 'subway' World Series in 2000?

Answer: New York Yankees

The Yankees defeated the Mets 4 games to 1 in the Series, after struggling through the Division and Championship Series. Derek Jeter was the Series MVP for his efforts, including hitting 2 home runs.
10. What 1952 Tiger pitcher, went 5-19 for the season, and two of those wins were no-hitters?

Answer: Virgil Trucks

The other pitchers listed were Tigers, but did not play in the 1950s. The Tigers finished the 1952 season with a 50-104 record. Ted Gray was the only Tiger pitcher in double figures, but he went 12-17. Trucks threw a no-hitter against the Senators on May 15, then again on August 25th against the Yankees. Trucks pitched for 17 seasons, and won only 177 games.
