Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which two teams played in the game?

Answer: Brisbane and Port Adelaide

Brisbane entered the Grand Final aiming to be only the second team in history to win four straight flags. Port Adelaide was in it's first Grand Final. The stage was set for a ferocious battle.
2. Who scored the first goal of the game?

Answer: Josh Carr

Josh Carr grabbed a ball as it spilled out of a pack, and slotted the first from 40 metres. That goal was one of the highlights in a quarter marred by many incidents.
3. Port Adelaide was leading at half time.

Answer: False

Brisbane was leading by a point at the main break, 6-7-43 to 6-6-42.
4. Which of these umpires was not a field umpire in the game?

Answer: Darren Goldspink

Brett Allen was umpiring his fifth Grand Final, along with Matthew James in his third Grand Final, and Shane McInerney was umpiring his first ever AFL Grand Final. They all did a fantastic job, and kept the game fast moving and exciting.
5. Who won the Norm Smith Medal?

Answer: Byron Pickett

Pickett played an incredible game, and did not stop running for the whole game, scoring a couple of inspirational goals.
6. Who scored the most goals in the game?

Answer: Gavin Wanganeen

Wanganeen scored four goals in all, and played an important part for Port Adelaide.
7. Which player after the game, had a unique record of holding an NBL title and an AFL premiership?

Answer: Dean Brogan

The ruckman for Port Adelaide was the first player to do this, playing a solid game, and can now say he has made a very successful transition from Basketball to AFL.
8. How many players for Port Adelaide had come from other AFL teams?

Answer: 11

Some of these players included AFL 'reject' Josh Mahoney, who was delisted from Collingwood, Western Bullgods, and Essendon VFL, and Essendon premiership players Damien Hardwick and Gavin Wanganeen.
9. How many goals did Jason Akermanis score?

Answer: 3

The Brisbane showman was in awesome form in the first half, kicking three goals, include a great snap from the pocket, before dropping off in the second half and not scoring another goal.
10. What was the end margin?

Answer: 40

Port Adelaide, the 2004 premiership team.
And remember, it's only a metter of time before the West Coast Eagle win the Premiership, in my opinion of course.
