Rupp Arena, home of the Kentucky Wildcats, was the site of one of the biggest upsets in sports. The heavily-favored Hoyas, appearing in their third Final Four in four years, lost 66-64.
3. The Kansas Jayhawks celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Final Four, by winning the tournament in which city?

Coached by Larry Brown and led by Danny Manning, Kansas defeated Big 8 rival Oklahoma in Kemper Arena, at one time home to the NBA's Kings, in 1988.
4. In 1966, Texas Western made sports history by beating Kentucky in which Final Four city?

Answer: College Park, Maryland

Later known as the University of Texas-El Paso, Texas Western's 72-65 triumph over Kentucky was a major landmark in sports. Don Haskins's all-black team defeated the legendary Adolph Rupp's all-white squad, and helped open more doors for athletes around the country. Cole Fieldhouse, on the campus of the University of Maryland, was the game site.
5. Under Dean Smith, the North Carolina Tar Heels won national titles in 1982 and 1993 in which city?

Answer: New Orleans

Both of the Tar Heels' wins were due to some serendipitous events. In 1982 against Georgetown, the Heels benefitted from an errant pass by Fred Brown, who thought James Worthy was a teammate. And in 1993, Michigan's Chris Webber called a timeout his team didn't have, helping North Carolina seal up another title. The cavernous Louisiana Superdome was the site of both games.
6. Between 1964 and 1995, UCLA won 11 Final Fours. In which of the following cities did they NOT win during that time?

Answer: Dallas

UCLA would win championships in nine different cities during their run, including the amazing eight straight titles from 1967 to 1975 in Kansas City, Portland, College Park, Houston, St Louis, San Diego, Seattle, Los Angeles twice, and Louisville twice.
7. The Duke Blue Devils suffered the worst loss in a Final Four championship game, losing the UNLV by 30 points in 1990, in which city?

Answer: Denver

McNichols Sports Arena, former home to the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche, was the site of UNLV's only national championship during the 20th Century. Duke would have its revenge the next year, beating the Rebels at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis to advance to the championship game against Kansas.
8. While President Ronald Reagan fought for his life after an assassination attempt on March 30, 1981, Indiana defeated North Carolina in the Final Four in which city?

Answer: Philadelphia

The 1981 Final Four marked the last time that the consolation game was played during the tournament. Virginia, which had lost to ACC rival North Carolina in the national semifinals, beat LSU for 3rd place. The Spectrum, former home to the Philadelphia 76ers and the Philadelphia Flyers, was the site of that Final Four.
9. When the Connecticut Huskies beat the Duke Blue Devils in the 1999 Final Four, the building that they played in went by which name?

Answer: Tropicana Field

Originally opened in 1990 in hopes of luring a major league baseball team, the Florida Suncoast Dome would serve as home to the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL for three seasons. By the time baseball did arrive in town, in 1998, Tropicana, the fruit juice company, had acquired the naming rights to the stadium.

The Huskies beat the Blue Devils 77-74 to win their first national championship.
10. The Charlotte Coliseum was the last traditional arena to host a Final Four in the 1990s.

Answer: False

The 1996 Final Four, was the last one designated to be played in a traditional arena. Continental Airlines Arena, home to the Seton Hall Pirates, the New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils, was the game site. The event is so popular that only the biggest indoor venues, like the Louisiana Superdome and the Georgia Dome, are considered as host sites. Charlotte did host the 1994 Final Four in its traditional arena, which served as home to the NBA's Hornets from 1988 through 2002 and the first home to the NBA's Bobcats in 2004-05.
