Answer: Giuseppe Farina

Giuseppe "Nino" Farina is a well known name in F1 Grand Prix racing history for winning the first ever Formula One World Champion. Born in Turin, Italy in 1906, Farina raced for the Alfa Romeo team in 1950 and won three races during that season; enough to win the first ever Championship.
Juan Manuel Fangio won the World Championship in 1951, also for the Alfa Romeo team, and went on to win four straight Championships from 1954 to 1957.
Alberto Ascari won the World Championship in 1952 and 1953 for the Ferrari team, these two title reigns being the first two won by a driver from Ferrari.
Mike Hawthorn won his only World Championship in 1958, also for the Ferrari team.

Answer: 1996

Born in London, England in September 1960 , Hill began his F1 career as a test driver for the Williams team in 1991. He began racing as a Grand Prix driver for the Brabham team in 1992. He jumped ship back to Williams in 1993 and throughout the mid 1990s, he steadily grew as a favourite for winning the World Championship. 1995 was a disappointing year for him; members of the Williams team were frustrated with his performance and were considering Heinz-Harald Frentzen to be brought in to replace him. Hill's contract was to last till end 1996, which would prove to be his last season at Williams.

After winning the World Championship, he was given contract offers to join McLaren and Ferrari. However, he joined the Arrows team in 1997 and spent his last two active years (1998 and 1999) at the Jordan team.

Answer: James Hunt

James Hunt captured the World Championship in 1976 after a neck to neck battle with Niki Lauda throughout the year. He drove the McLaren M23 car to victories at six Grand Prix in 1976, missing out on the British Grand Prix win because of an accident he was involved in at the very first corner.
Niki Lauda met with a serious accident in Germany which caused him to be sidelined for two races. In this time, Hunt closed in on the points gap between him and Lauda. As they headed into Japan, Hunt was now merely three points behind. The Japanese Grand Prix was wet and Lauda retired early in the race, following complications from facial burns he had received in Germany. Hunt had a puncture but still managed to finish third with four points, enough to secure him the World Championship by one point.
Mario Andretti won the 1978 World Championship, Jackie Stewart captured Title in 1969, 1971 and 1973. Jody Scheckter won the World Championship in 1979 for Ferrari.

Answer: 1991

Ayrton Senna won his first World Championship in 1988 at the age of 28. He went on to win the 1990 Word Championship and finally, the 1991 World Championship. He tragically died on the first of May in 1994, while leading at the San Marino Grand Prix. His car had an accident and Senna suffered serious head injuries. Medical personnel rushed to aid him, but Senna died in hospital. Yet, some people claim that Senna was killed instantly on the track.

Answer: Benetton

Michael Schumacher won the 1994 World Championship for Benetton, winning eight races and collecting 92 points. He won the World Championship for Benetton again in 1995, this time winning nine races. He signed for Ferrari in 1996, coming close to winning the World Championship in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

His big breakthrough for Ferrari came in 2000, when he won his third World Championship. Schumacher went on an incredible roll from then, winning five straight World Championships between 2000 and 2004.

Answer: Nelson Piquet

Nelson Piquet won the 1981 World Championship, racing for Brabham, winning three races. Piquet won the 1983 World Championship also, again racing for Brabham. He then jumped ship to Williams in 1986. There, he was locked in a fierce rivalry with his team mate Nigel Mansell.

They drove arguably the best cars in the season but because of their rivalry, they deprived each other of points, allowing Alain Prost to grab the World Championship. Piquet refined his technique by the 1987 season and emerged as World Champion. Piquet couldn't win two straight championships but had an overall successful career in Formula One. Fernando Alonso won the 2005 and 2006 World Championships, racing for the Renault team both years. Alain Prost won the 1985 and 1986 World Championships while Mika Hakkinen captured the 1998 and 1999 World Championships.

Answer: Nigel Mansell

Nigel Mansell started 1992 with five straight Grand Prix victories. Mansell finished second at the Hungarian Grand Prix, enough to secure himself the World Championship.
Jacques Villeneuve won his only World Championship in 1997, racing for the Williams team, winning seven races. Keke Rosberg won his only World Championship in 1982 while Alan Jones won the 1980 World Championship.

Answer: Graham Hill

Graham Hill joined the British Racing Motors team in 1960 and won the World Championship with them in 1962. His son, Damon Hill, won the World Championship in 1996. Graham tragically died in 1975 when his plane crashed near a golf course in north London.

A memorial was put up there for Graham hill. Jim Clark won two World Championships, in 1963 and 1965. He was killed at the Hockenheim racing track in Germany in 1968, on the seventh of April. John Surtees won his only World Championship in 1964 for Ferrari. Jack Brabham won the 1959 and 1960 World Championships for the Cooper team and the 1966 World Championship for the Brabham team.

Answer: 1979 and 1980

The 1979 and 1980 World Championships were won by Jody Scheckter from Ferrari and Alan Jones from Williams respectively.
The 1990 and 1991 World Championships were both won by Ayrton Senna, racing for McLaren. The 1988 and 1989 World Championships were won by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost respectively while the 1984 and 1985 World Championships were won by Niki Lauda and Alain Prost respectively.

Answer: Tyrrell

Jackie Stewart won the 1971 World Championship with six Grand Prix wins and 62 points. He captured the 1973 World Championship, winning five Grand Prix and 71 points. Nicknamed "The Flying Scot", Stewart was active in Formula One between 1965 and 1973, winning three World Championships.
