1. When was the first men's singles champion crowned?

Answer: 1877

Spencer Gore was the first men's singles champion. He defeated William Marshall in the final. His financial prize for winning the tournament was 12 guineas.
2. How many men's singles titles did Boris Becker win?

Answer: 3

Becker won the title in 1985, 1986, and 1989. Becker also reached the final in 1988, 1990, 1991 and 1995 (but lost to Stefan Edberg twice, Michael Stich, and Pete Sampras respectively).
3. Which two years was Jimmy Connors crowned men's singles champion?

Answer: 1974 and 1982

Connors made his last appearance in the singles final in 1984, however he lost in straight sets to to John McEnroe. Connors appeared in six Wimbledon singles finals in total (the above two wins, plus 1975, 1977, 1978 and 1984).
4. Who did John McEnroe defeat in the 1983 men's singles final?

Answer: Chris Lewis

Lewis was unseeded when he reached the final. This was his only Grand Slam tournament final. He lost the match in straight sets.
5. How many sets were there in the 1992 men's singles final between Andre Agassi and Goran Ivanisevic?

Answer: 5

This was his only Wimbledon singles title. Agassi won all four Grand Slam singles titles in his career. Australian: 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2003; French: 1999; Wimbledon: 1992; US Open: 1994 and 1999.

Hewitt defeated David Nalbandian in straight sets in the final. Hewitt married Australian TV star Rebecca Cartwright in 2005.
