Answer: 1956

St George beat Balmain in the 1956 Grand Final 18-12, and also won the minor premiership over Balmain.
2. Who was captain of the Saints in the first 6 premiership wins?

Answer: Ken Kearney

Kearney would captain the Saints from 1956 to 1961. Provan would play in all but the last grand final, and captained the side 4 times from 1962 to 1965.
3. Which team lost four grand finals to St George, three times in succession?

Answer: Western Suburbs

Poor, poor Western Suburbs. They lost four grand finals to St George - 1958, 1961-62-63. They have often been regarded as a great team playing in the wrong era. All three grand finals from 1961 to 63 were narrow, heart-breaking losses for the Wests Magpies. After that 1963 loss, Wests would not play in another finals series against the Saints.
4. Who did St George beat 31-6 in their biggest Grand Final victory during the streak?

Answer: Eastern Suburbs

St George beat Easts 31-6 in the 1960 Grand Final, a 25 point margin. St George also beat Wests 22-0 in 1961 Grand Final.
5. In what year did Graeme Langlands play in his first Grand Final at fullback for St George?

Answer: 1963

Langlands would play in his first Grand Final in 1963 for St George, and would play in the final three 1964-65-66. He would also captain St George to Grand Final defeats against Souths in 1971 (16-10) and Easts in 1975 (38-0!)
6. What was the official attendance at the 1965 Grand Final between South Sydney and St George?

Answer: 78,056

Establishing a record for the time, 78,056 people watched St George defeat South Sydney 12-8 in a gripping and tense Grand Final. Captain Norm Provan retired at the end of the match.
7. How many times did St George also wrap up the minor premiership during their streak?

Answer: 10

St George would wrap up the minor premiership 10 times during their reign. The only year they didn't was in 1961 when Wests pipped them, but only on for and against. They actually both scored 30 points.
8. In what year did St George go through the regular season undefeated?

Answer: 1959

St George completely smashed the opposition in 1959. They would win 17 matches in 1959, with only one draw, scoring 550 points, allowing only 190 and totalling 35 points. They secured a then record 10th club championship and all three sides (First grade, Reserve grade and Under-21s) would contest grand finals. Rarely during their streak did St George lose more than 2 to 4 matches in a season.
9. Who ended the Saints historic run in the 1967 semi-final series?

Answer: Canterbury-Bankstown

Although the Saints would wrap up another minor premiership, things had changed. The four-tackle rule had been implemented in 1967, which replaced the unlimited tackle rule. However, it would be the Canterbury Berries (now known as the Bulldogs) that toppled St George in the 1967 Preliminary Final 12-11, denying the Saints a 12th straight Grand Final appearance.
10. Who captained the Saints in their last grand final victory of their record run?

Answer: Ian Walsh

Ian Walsh as Captain-Coach would lead the his side to only one grand final, but that was a victory in 1966.
