Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Carlos had been tampering with Gabrielle's birth control for months.

Answer: True

Gabby told Carlos she was lucky to have a man who wouldn't leave her just because she did not want children. He said it was a sacrifice, but she was worth it. Mary Alice narrated that he'd been tampering with her birth control for months, in order to trick her into a pregnancy.
2. Who was questioned about a 1992 purchase of a toy chest with dancing bears on it?

Answer: Paul Young

The detectives came to Paul's house to ask about a toy chest purchased by Mary Alice "12 years" prior. Detectives Burnett and Beckerman explained to Paul that it had been purchased in August of 1992. The man who made those chests kept a record of all the people who'd ever purchased them. Zach was raking in the yard and listened to the exchange carefully. The detectives wanted to find out where it was now located, even though they were sure they already knew the answer to it. Paul was adamant he did not recall the item in question, but Zach piped up that he did remember it. He said he'd broken the chest when he was little. When he asked the men why the chest was important, Burnett explained that one just like it had washed up in Torch Lake with a dismembered woman's body inside.

Brett Cullen played Burnett and John Lacy played Beckerman.
3. Did Carlos find out about the hospital's settlement offer?

Answer: Yes

He was angry when he found out. Once again, selfishly, it was all about Carlos. He wanted to use the money to fight the plea bargain. Gabby reminded him that without the plea bargain the entire settlement would have been seized before they could use it! He didn't want to spend 8 months in prison, and she told him that he deserved a "time out" for the crime he'd committed.

She said that this way, they'd have money left to start over when he was released from prison.
4. Which actress played Susan's mother, Sophie Bremmer?

Answer: Lesley Ann Warren

Sophie's first order of business was to crash into Mike's truck. She blamed it on her bad depth perception. Mike felt all his questions about how Susan turned out the way she did, were answered after meeting her mother. Lesley Ann Warren also played Jinx Shannon on "In Plain Sight".
5. Who did Lynette guilt into babysitting her children?

Answer: Bree

Lynette had plans to get together with some former colleagues and her babysitter canceled on her. She tried to call back-up sitters, but apparently no one was available. So, she rushed over and cornered Bree by her mailbox. She begged and guilted Bree into agreeing to watch the four kids. Bree told the boys that she would spank them if they misbehaved in her house. Since Lynette never went through with a spanking, the boys had to test Bree. Porter immediately went back to the cookies he'd been instructed to let cool, so Bree spanked him! The other two boys looked on in shock.
6. Carlos came to his wife and tried to coerce her into signing what kind of legal document?

Answer: post-nuptial agreement

Gabby had no intention of signing a document that would negate her pre-nuptial agreement. Carlos tried to coerce her by threatening to "pull the plug" on the settlement agreement, and then divorcing her and leaving her virtually penniless. He told her he wanted a legal promise that she would not divorce him while he was in prison.

She refused to sign, so he told her she was very beautiful but not too bright. That really made her mad, so she informed him that because she was "pretty and therefore stupid" she forgot to throw away the incriminating papers he'd hidden in his closet.

She'd read them, and discovered he had a secret bank account in the Cayman Islands. Those papers were the key to sending him away for years. He'd completely underestimated her, and she'd totally outsmarted him.
7. What was Zach's reward for helping Felicia with her bags?

Answer: banana bread

Zach was on his porch playing guitar when Felicia asked him for help with her bags. She told him she would give him banana bread if he helped, and he was subsequently seen eating some. He admitted he'd never been inside Martha Huber's house before that night. Felicia took her opportunity to reveal to Zach that she'd known his mother. And, that his mother loved him very much. Lastly, she said that she remembered what Zach's real name used to be, and he answered, "Dana?"
8. Sophie told Susan that she wanted to spend a couple of years renting the house across the street from her.

Answer: False

Susan tried to get a feel for what her mother intended to do, since the woman did not want to go back to her boyfriend Morty. Morty had shoved her and thrown a book at her, allegedly, when Sophie questioned him about his young waitresses at his pancake restaurant. Susan did not seem to believe the story in its entirety.

When Sophie revealed she'd like to spend a couple of years living with Susan, Susan was so startled she kicked her pedicurist in the nose! Susan then took her mother back to Morty's diner, where she discovered the truth. Morty did throw a book at Sophie.

It did not hit her, but she began hitting him anyway. In order to get her to stop, Morty had to shove Sophie off of him. He told Susan he did not want to deal with Sophie's hysterics anymore, but Susan convinced him to go talk to her anyway. Bob Newhart played Morty.
9. How did Lynette get her boys to behave and brush their teeth?

Answer: she threatened to take them to Bree's house

Lynette was not ready to spank her boys, or to use that same old empty threat once again. So, she told them if they did not do what they were told, and brush their teeth, she'd walk them straight over to Mrs. Van de Kamp's and they knew what she did when she got angry. It totally worked!
10. Fill in the blank: According to Mary Alice's narration at the end, children change everything, especially when they are not _______.

Answer: invited

Lynette and Bree made up after the spanking incident. Andrew revealed to Rex he thought that he might be gay, and Rex told Bree. Susan's attempt to reconnect Sophie and Morty did not work out. Felicia continued to build a bond with Zach, and it appeared as thought Gabby conceived a child with John Rowland after Carlos forcibly made her sign his post-nuptial agreement.

He even left a mark on her wrist where he'd manhandled her. Carlos' best laid plan to impregnate his wife seemed to have possibly taken a turn for the ironic.
