The Riddler dressed up as Charlie Chaplin and ran into the movie lobby to perform some weird dance moves. A woman who carried flowers descended from the staircase, catching The Riddler's attention. Later, The Riddler and his men robbed the theater.

Commissioner Gordon realized that The Riddler was on the loose again so he decided to contact Batman via the Batphone. Bruce and Dick were in the room where the Batphone was located so Bruce picked up the receiver. They immediately went to the Batpoles in order to head down to Gotham City Police Headquarters.

This was one of few episodes from season one where Alfred did not answer the Batphone.

The first clue The Riddler left in this episode was, "How is a musician like an oven?" Robin answered it at Gotham City Police Headquarters by saying that it was where the musician made his bread. Batman explained that "bread" was in the musician's vernacular for "money".

Near the beginning of the episode, The Riddler and his gang were right outside their hideout when he asked his cohort, C.B., to get the camera ready. He advised all members of his gang to stand close by since Mr. Van Jones had commissioned him to make a silent film. The Riddler claimed that the silent film was actually a clever diversion to help them commit their real crime.

The Riddler's moll, Pauline, entered a bakery and lied to the baker there that she had no money for which to buy food from him. She then threw a shawl over his head, which then allowed one of The Riddler's cohorts to knock the baker out. The Riddler and his gang then proceeded throughout the bakery until they came upon a security guard.

The Riddler picked up one of his pies and tossed it into the guy's face. There was a sedative in the pie, causing the security guard to lose consciousness.

Batman and Robin chased The Riddler and his gang to a library in Gotham City. When they got to the entrance, they noticed the lock had been abused so they used their own keys to gain access to the library. Once they stepped foot inside the library, a gigantic book fell on top of them, knocking them unconscious.
