When thinking in terms of a triangle among the characters of "Dallas" it would be a safe bet that it would NOT be a dreamy yet decadent ménage à trios. There are sure to be a few clashes as the lines of those angles intersect.

Question 4 of 10
4. Once again it was soiree time at Southfork. Ray brought Garnet to the party as his date but who was first to be her dance partner there? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. In a setting that must have been the morning after the night of the party, Ray arrived at the ranch house wearing the same clothes he had worn at the party. Jock had summoned Ray for a meeting with him. What did Jock have to tell Ray that was so important? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. It was obvious to the viewing audience that J.R. had hatched a plan to get Ray (Krebbs) out of town when he (J.R.) suggested to Jock that Ray should go to another ranch and buy a prize bull to add to the Southfork herd. Of course, Jock took the bait and sent Ray on the cattle-buying errand. The other ranch was several hours drive time from Dallas. To which west Texas town did Ray go to look at the bull? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Before he left town on his errand, Ray (again) professed his love for her to Garnet. He pleaded with her to marry him. She would not be convinced but managed to console him, somewhat. What did J.R. get for Garnet (while Ray was gone) that he thought would make her obligated enough to agree to give him her "exclusive services"? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Ray's trip to buy the bull was a true wild goose chase. The bull was not for sale; never had been, never would be, according to the rancher who owned the bull. But it did give J.R. the time he wanted to be alone with Garnet. As Ray returned to Southfork, Garnet and J.R. shared a passionate evening in her apartment. Who told Ray where J.R. was spending his evening? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Ray did find J.R. and Garnet in bed together in her apartment. Thanks to Lucy and Pam's warning, Bobby arrived at Garnet's apartment in time to end J.R.'s (much deserved!) beating by Ray before too much damage was done. J.R. quickly recuperated enough to make the demand that Ray be "off Southfork by sun-up".

Question 10 of 10
10. This episode came to a close with a tender moment as an apology was extended to Ray for a wrong that had been done to him. Who offered what appeared to be this most sincere regret? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The opening scene of this episode showed a promotional sign from The Mustang Club as it proudly presented an up-and-coming local singer. Her given name was Garnet. What did the sign show her family name (her last name, that is) to be?

Answer: McGee

We met Garnet McGee very early in this episode. Pamela, Bobby, Lucy and Joe (Lucy's date for the evening) were enjoying a night on the town in The Mustang Club. Everyone - except Pam - seemed quite smitten by the talent and the charm of rising star, Garnet McGee. Pam had crossed paths with Garnet before she became a Ewing. We would learn some bridges were not yet burned.
2. The part of country singer, Garnet, was played by country music recording artist and younger sister of Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle.

Answer: False

Garnet may have looked familiar to some "Dallas" viewers but not because she was really a country music singer but because the character was played by (then) popular actress Kate Mulgrew. This episode overlapped Mulgrew's tenure as Mary Ryan Fenelli on the soap opera, "Ryan's Hope" (USA - 1975-1989).

She would later be seen in many other popular TV shows that included a starring role in "Star Trek: Voyager" (USA - 1995 - 2001). True, Crystal Gayle was born the younger sister of country music superstar, Loretta Lynn. Crystal Gayle was also a very popular singer in the late 1970s but she did not have an appearance in this episode.
3. Pam described Garnet as "an opportunist" to Bobby. In a private moment when she was alone with Ray, Garnet shared a bit about her background that she felt justified her ambitions. How did Garnet describe the way she "grew-up" that caused her so much anguish?

Answer: Dirt poor

Ray had just professed his love for Garnet and told her "he had everything he needed" - her affection and his job at Southfork. Ray seemed oblivious to her warning, though, that being poor was not acceptable to her any more. She tried to caution him with some insight about herself with the phrase, "nothing is ever enough". Still Ray was convinced he could be (as he said) "enough for you".
4. Once again it was soiree time at Southfork. Ray brought Garnet to the party as his date but who was first to be her dance partner there?

Answer: Bobby

Bobby and Lucy were the first to greet Ray and Garnet. Bobby wasted no time asking for a dance. When the dance was over, Bobby was waylaid by Miss Ellie leaving Garnet to chat with Pam. It was another terse exchange between those two. Soon, they, too were interrupted. This time by Ray and Jock. It was Jock's dance with Garnet that caught J.R.'s eye. J.R.'s obvious interest in Garnet was not lost to Lucy - - - or, to Ray. To nit-pick about this scene: Paper plates were a part of the buffet table. At Southfork? Really! NEVER! We must ask: Wardrobe and props, what were you thinking?
5. In a setting that must have been the morning after the night of the party, Ray arrived at the ranch house wearing the same clothes he had worn at the party. Jock had summoned Ray for a meeting with him. What did Jock have to tell Ray that was so important?

Answer: Jock gave Ray a section of Southfork - a whole section of prime Southfork land.

It may have been early morning but Ray did not escape encounters with J.R. (who offered him the snide comment, "You gonna herd cattle in that outfit?") and Lucy (who lambasted him for being with Garnet when SHE needed him at the ranch) on his way to Jock's study. Ray shared with Jock that he loved Garnet and wanted to marry her. Jock shared with Ray that he wanted him to stay at Southfork - "always", as Jock phrased it. And, it was Jock's intention that giving Ray a part of Southfork would assure that he would stay there.

Here we learn that Ray was fifteen years old when he started to work at Southfork and this gift was to recognize he had been there twenty years.

Answer: Odessa

J.R. had enjoyed Garnet's company during lunch with her and when she played the hard-to-get game it only made J.R. more determined to consummate his conquest of her. J.R. concocted the story about the prize bull for sale in Odessa thinking that Ray would be gone at least one night to make the round trip - even if for nothing. J.R. wasted no time in connecting with Garnet as soon as Ray was on the way to Odessa.

The bull had not been for sale - ever. The only "bull" that was moving was the "bull" J.R. dispersed.

Answer: A recording contract with a friend's record company

J.R. summoned Garnet to his office at Ewing Oil to tell her that he had arranged studio time for her with a friend of his who owned Down Home Records. J.R. also promised that he would use Ewing Oil money to make her a star. J.R. already had the contract prepared that would give him twenty-five percent of her earnings ("from all sources") and "the exclusive use" of her services as long as he wanted. Garnet took only a brief moment to reply with a very sly smile and the simple comment, "Ten percent".

As fate would have it, Bobby exited his office just as Garnet left J.R.'s office. It was obvious he was curious if not concerned about her visit.

Answer: Lucy

Granted, Lucy was mostly jealous and hurt that Ray had rebuffed her advances but she very quickly realized she had set in motion a potentially explosive situation. Of course, Lucy had to solicit Pam's help to defuse the situation. And, just as certainly, Pam had to involve Bobby, who was in the habit of coming to everyone's rescue.

Answer: True

Ray told Bobby and J.R. that he was sick of the Ewings and all of their money. He told Garnet he (now) thought she was no better than the Ewings. Ray said he was "clearing out" - while J.R. was still wiping the blood from his face. Bobby reminded Ray how much he meant to Jock and how it would affect Jock if he left.

When J.R. demanded that Ray leave it changed his mind. Ray decided to stay, if for no other reason to be there if J.R. ever made another mistake it would be his last. And, Garnet reminded J.R. the contract was still "legal" and she intended for him to honor it - or, else. Bobby summed it perfectly when he said to J.R., "you have one unholy knack for making every good friend you ever had into an enemy".

This was only season TWO! We had NO idea ...
10. This episode came to a close with a tender moment as an apology was extended to Ray for a wrong that had been done to him. Who offered what appeared to be this most sincere regret?

Answer: Lucy

Ray was shown in the empty pasture as he held the deed and map (most likely to the property Jock had given him) when Lucy rode horseback to find him there. She told him that she was truly sorry for what had happened and wanted to accept the offer he had extended of friendship - just friendship.

She punctuated her plea with "I don't have many friends"; Ray's smile and nod seemed to appreciate and accept her request.
