The press conference continued, throughout this episode, and the opening scene consisted of a question where a reporter asked if it was possible anyone else survived the island. Sayid spoke up and said that was absolutely not a possibility. The person did not ask Sayid to elaborate on anything and it was considered an answered question.

Viewers were shocked when, at the end of this episode (the season finale of season four), Locke was seen in a casket. Since this was a flash forward moment, his death did not immediately happen and he would be around for season five. In season five, there were some instances where Locke contemplated suicide but he never went through in killing himself. Terry O'Quinn originated the role of John Locke on "Lost" and won a Primetime Emmy for the role in 2007.

Jack was seen, with a beard, in the flash forwards that took place in this episode. This did not last long since Jack was clean shaved when season five premiered. This was the only time Jack had a beard, for the first five seasons of "Lost."

If you look at the opening credits, it says that Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof co-wrote this episode of "Lost." Cuse, for the first five seasons, wrote 27 episodes and Lindelof wrote 98 episodes. Cuse also wrote for the shows, "Nash Bridges", "Martial Law", and "The Adventures of Brisco County Jr." Lindelof wrote for the shows, "Undressed", "Wasteland", and "Nash Bridges."

*Kate, Sayid, and a couple of The Others went and rescued Ben from Martin Keamy since Keamy had kidnapped him. There was an ambush and many of Keamy's men were dead. Keamy, however, managed to escape but Ben caught up with him later, in the episode. When Ben caught up with him, he killed Keamy.*

Desmond mentioned to Michael and Jin, that he studied explosive ordnance disposal for six months, while he was in the Army. Desmond quipped that six months of studying it was enough time to learn how to blow yourself up.

When the opening credits rolled, Jack was seen with Locke, Hurley, and Sawyer and Jack mentioned, to Locke, that he needed to go back to the helicopter and rescue the survivors from the island. Hurley informed Jack that it was not a good idea since Ben was being taken, to the helicopter, and Keamy was holding him hostage. Jack was convinced not to go to the helicopter.

*In Ben's first scene, in the episode, he was seen, walking with Keamy's men as a hostage. Kate came running up to the men and they held a gun out on her. They asked her who she was so she identified herself as Kate and said she was running because she was being chased by Ben's men. Kate used this excuse to help rescue Ben from Keamy.*

During the ambush, to get Ben away from Martin Keamy and his people, Sayid fought with one of the men and got out a knife and stabbed him. The other guy overpowered Sayid and tried to use a tree branch to suffocate Sayid. While he did this, Richard appeared and shot the man dead. Ben thanked Richard for coming to help him out.
