Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The episode opened with a politician at Roseanne's door. What was his name?

Answer: Mike Summers

He shook her hand and said he was her state representative. He was going door to door getting to know his constituents. Mark Blum played Mike Summers. He went on to guest star on "NYPD: Blue", "Law and Order", and "Law and Order: Criminal Intent". The three other choices are names of fictional American presidents on other TV series.

A state representative is a person elected by their state to represent that state in the House of Representatives.
2. It was Roseanne and Bonnie's last day of work at Rodbell's diner. Was Leon able to get them new jobs at Rodbell's?

Answer: No

He swore to them that he'd talked to everyone, and that none were hiring. He said he was sorry, but apparently they'd waited on too many of the department heads. He then brought a bottle of sparkling cider to toast their last day.
3. Who made the regional finals for a spelling bee?

Answer: DJ

He won the James Madison Elementary School Spelling Bee and advanced to the regional finals. Dan and Roseanne were so happy that he'd brought home a good note. They promised him their whole family would be there to cheer him to victory.
4. Arnie admitted to Dan that during arguments Nancy would break what items over his head?

Answer: Plates

It seemed like the walls of marriage were closing in on Arnie. What was more likely was that in real life Roseanne was done with Tom Arnold and trying to get him off of her show. Arnie told Dan that the only thing they argued about before marriage was who would drive and who would get to moon the other drivers.
5. Dan sold a motorcycle in this episode, but he sold it at a financial loss.

Answer: True

He told Roseanne that he had to sell it for about a hundred dollars less than he'd spent on it. Roseanne felt badly for him, as she knew it had been his favorite bike. He said it was okay though, as they were Conners and they had to eat.
6. Who left a note saying he'd been abducted by aliens?

Answer: Arnie

Roseanne read: "Dear Nancy, I know this is hard to believe, but I am being kidnapped by aliens from outer space."
After Dan read it he asked: "Who are the Allens and why are they out of spice?"
Nancy was crushed that he'd left a ridiculous letter instead of facing her.
7. Becky had to ask her parents some questions for her college applications. Which of these was NOT one of those questions?

Answer: How many mortgages are on the house?

For "what's our annual income" Dan said they made about $31,000. When she asked how much was in her college fund, the look on their faces revealed it was empty. When she asked that last question, Roseanne said "Becky it's been a really bad year". Becky was heartbroken and infuriated when she realized there was absolutely no money for her to go to college. Dan suggested community college to start, but she would hear none of it. I always wondered why they didn't suggest a student loan to her.
8. In the scene with the spelling bee, who was eliminated first?

Answer: Roger

There were only three kids on stage in the scene, and Roger misspelled embarrass. Joey Simmrin played Roger. He was also in the movies "Nine Months" and "The Deep End of the Ocean".
9. Which word did Nicole misspell at the spelling bee?

Answer: Legendary

She spelled it l-e-g-e-n-d-e-r-y. Taylor Fry played Nicole. She went on to play Phoebe Hartman on a series called "Kirk". After she failed, it was DJ's turn. His final and winning word was "foreclosure". He won and they celebrated at home with ice cream.
10. Whose idea was it to have a toast DJ style by flinging ice cream at everyone else?

Answer: Roseanne

Since DJ was the "very best speller in all of Lanford", Roseanne started an ice cream food fight. She flung the first spoonful in the direction of DJ and Dan and everyone followed suit. The final scene was Arnie on board a space ship annoying his captors. And, apparently Arnie was kidnapped to be a pet for one alien's son. Jeff Heston and Clint Allmon played the aliens.
