Answer: "VALIS"

Ben is locked in the basement of his prior home. Locke selects "VALIS," by Philip K. Dick, for Ben's reading pleasure. Ben indicates that he has already read it, however, Locke suggests that Ben read it again, and says, "You might catch something you missed the second time around."

VALIS stands for Vast Active Living Intelligence System, and the book of the same name is book one in a trilogy. As all books seen are hints about the nature of the series and its mysteries, this book may hint at the supernatural aspects that inhabit the island.

3. Which of the following cities does Jin NOT mention, while discussing his future with Sun?

Answer: Chicago

Jin never mentions Chicago. Jin believes that their rescue is imminent, so he wants to discuss where they might live. Sun says that Albuquerque is too hot and that New York has too many people. Finally, Sun says that she would like to raise her child in Korea.
4. Kate tricks Hurley into disclosing the location of Miles. What does Hurley say?

Answer: "You just totally Scooby-Doo'd me, didn't you?"

5. With whom does Miles demand to meet, in exchange for the information that Miles has about Kate?

6. Whom does Kate's lawyer present as a character witness?

Answer: Jack

Jack gives a moving performance before the jury. He describes Kate as a genuine heroine on the island. Kate eventually brings the testimony to an end, saying that it is not relevant. The prosecuting attorney asks Jack if he still loves her. Jack says that he does not anymore. However, he later recants.
7. What game do Locke and Sawyer play, while discussing events?

Jack and Juliet approach Daniel and Charlotte on the beach. Jack and Juliet want to contact the freighter to determine the status of their friends, after failing to make contact using the original freighter satellite phone number. Charlotte reluctantly makes the call, using an emergency number. Regina claims to know nothing about the location of the helicopter or its occupants.
9. Locke tells Miles, "No use in having rules if there's no punishment for breaking them." What is Locke's punishment for Miles?

Answer: Locke forces Miles to bite down on a grenade.

"My name is John Locke, and I'm responsible for the well-being of this island." Locke forces Miles to open his mouth and bite down on a grenade in an attempt to gather information from Miles. Locke says that Miles will tell him everything that he needs to know and leaves.
