It was getting dark and it seemed that Locke and Boone had gotten pretty lost. Boone decided that he wanted to go back to camp, and Locke told him to go ahead. Locke threw him a flashlight, but Boone missed it and the flashlight clanged on something metal on the ground.

As they investigated, Locke declared that it was steel, and Boone wondered if it was wreckage from the plane. The episode ended with Locke and Boone trying to discover exactly what it was.

Jack became angry and accused his father of being impaired while operating. His father also promised that he would never operate drunk again, as being a surgeon was his life and he couldn't bear to have that taken away from him. Finally, Jack signed the document.

Jack then suddenly announced that he wanted to revise his statement, and told the truth about what had really happened, thus destroying his father's career forever.
