"CSI: NY" - "Tanglewood" Trivia Quiz

In this episode, a man has been chased through Central Park and beaten to death. Stella and Mac arrive on the scene to find the body and many sets of footprints. Mac says that they're lucky the man died outside because snow is a great tool to track footprints. Using a type of sulfur and different colours of paint, they are able to collect the footprints from the snow without damaging them.

While inspecting one of the footprints, Mac finds a piece of the wooden baseball bat used as the murder weapon while Stella finds tire tracks. Hawkes examines the body and they find that there has been a tattoo sanded off the victim's body in addition to the bruises and broken bones from the murder.

Answer: Red

Marta Santo was found in her car after it crashed on a country road. Paint shavings on the car indicated that she was the victim of a hit-and-run not long before. After examining the body, Hawkes had enough evidence to gather a sexual assault kit and the CSIs waited for the results.

When Marta's husband came to see the body he tried to reach for her by smashing his head through a window and Danny was forced to restrain him. Although Aiden was assigned to this case, Mac assigned her to another one.

Answer: Mickey Mantle

Using the wooden remain of the bat found at the murder scene, Mac is able to trace out Mickey Mantle's autograph from the chip. He tells Stella that the bat is worth $5,000. He also finds sawdust on the footprint samples and Stella finds shuffleboard wax on the victim's shirt, so they head to a bar to search for more clues.
Meanwhile, Danny puts his paint chip through the scanner in order to search for the make, model, and year of the car that hit Marta Santo.
Aiden is also on a different job. Although she's still helping Danny, she is also investigating the robbery/homicide of a convenience store clerk.

Answer: Paul Montenassi

Paul Montenassi, the Central Park victim was proven to be the killer in this instance. The blood on Paul's face was from Mihok Lev when he was shot. The surveillance footage that Flack picked up from the convenience store is given to Mac and Stella and they watch it.

The footage shows Paul shooting Mihok then leaving, but soon, Mihok's brother Harish follows him with a bat and doesn't return until an hour after the murder. When Harish is brought in for an interrogation, Mac is surprised to hear that the bat Harish used was aluminum.

Answer: A 1000-Watt Bulb

In order to see a layer beneath the epidermis and fully view the tattoo, Mac watches as Hawkes makes Paul's skin rise so that he can wash the burnt tissue away and reveal it. When he's done, the word 'Tanglewood' is shown. Mac doesn't know about the meaning behind it, but Danny does. Danny tells Mac that the Tanglewood boys are a group of kids in New York who focus on women, cars, and cocaine.

He opted not to join the group when he was asked to, but he knows their enemies and ideas having spent his life near them. Since Paul had no in-date on his tattoo, he was a fake 'Tanglewood' boy, so he could've been in trouble with either the 'Tanglewoods' or their rival groups. Meanwhile, Danny and Aiden (free of the convenience store murder) investigate Marta's clothes and find semen on the sleeve from multiple donors. One of which is her husband who is surprised by this.

He also tells the CSIs that Marta worked for a hair salon.

Answer: R. Lee

Although her husband assumed that she worked at a hair salon, Marta actually worked for the Wuhan Spa and Sauna owned by the Chinese mob. Here she would work and provide her customers with 'pleasure'. This explains the other semen donors on her shirt sleeve. Aiden also finds a diamond underneath the massage table in Marta's workspace. Meanwhile, Mac, Stella, and Flack track down Johnny Lucerno of the Pelham Bay gang when his blood is found through DNA tests.

When Flack takes off Johnny's cap, he reveals twenty-five stitches in his scalp.

This is from being hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat.

Answer: Billy Batt's

Johnny Lucerno reveals the location of the pub that he was at when he was hit in the head and Mac and Stella go to investigate it. When they enter, they immediately find sawdust and shuffleboard. On the wall they also find a case for a missing Mickey Mantle bat, the murder weapon. They dust the case for prints and find that some that belong to a guy named Sonny Sassone who sides with Tanglewood.
When they visit Sonny at his house, they find that he has replaced his window and tires. They also decide to take a sample of his footprint when he leaves as well as tire treads.

Answer: Lincoln Navigator

After Aiden discovers that the diamond she found was actually a cubic zirconium, Flack notifies Danny and Aiden that the paint sample is from a 2005 Lincoln Navigator which Ross Lee's wife, Arianna, happens to drive. They go to her house and take a paint sample from her scratched bumper as well as her nail polish. Stella and Mac find that the shoe samples they'd just retrieved match the shoes from the murder scene in size, but not in pattern.

They also take the camera from the ATM at Billy Batt's and confirm that Johnny was there, that Sonny took the bat out of the case, and that Paul showed his fake Tanglewood tattoo to the real Tanglewood Boys.

Answer: In a dashboard bobblehead

Stella and Mac get the warrant for Sonny Sassone's car and they take it to the lab. Although the car has been cleaned with bleach, Mac finds a bobblehead on the dashboard with blood inside. This blood does not come back with a result because of the low weight of the DNA. The nail polish and paint scraping that Aiden and Danny test simply don't match up with Arianna Lee's, but an A. Lee was on the guest list at the Wuhan Spa and Sauna.

When they check Arianna's signature, it doesn't match up. None of the signatures match up, so they talk to Ross Lee again.

He tells them that his secretary also signs for him on some occasions. They realize that the secretary, Tavia, was responsible. She and Ross were also a couple and she went to tell Marta to stop seeing Ross.

She left the cubic zirconium behind (it dropped off her false fingernails) and she also drives a 2005 Lincoln Navigator. Although Tavia and Arianna were friends, she lied about the spa and hit Marta's car off the road.

When Stella and Mac search Sassone's tool shed they find the sander used on Paul's tattoo. In the interrogation room, Mac and Stella find that Sonny and some of the Tanglewood Boys used Paul with no intention of letting him into the club. They made him hit Johnny from Pelham Bay in the head with the Mickey Mantle bat, then they made him rob the convenience store.

When Paul shot Mihok Lev, the guys wanted nothing to do with him so that they wouldn't be caught, so they sanded down his tattoo and used the bat to kill him in Central Park.
