Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In episode 6, Shelley Danvers was found dead in the Mediterranean Hotel. The body had been moved from the place of death, which was found to be the sauna. What was the cause of death?

Answer: She had suffered an anaphylactic shock

Shelley's friend Tina had ordered food from room service earlier that night, and had chosen a dish she knew would cause Shelley to have an allergic reaction because she was jealous that Shelley had a date. Shelley then went to the sauna, where the allergy kicked in. Nice friend!
2. "Alter Boys" was the title of episode 6, and at the start of this episode, a man was found burying a body. After the team investigated, they realised the man, Ben Jennings, was covering for his brother, Roger. Why did Ben not go to prison for the crimes?

Answer: Ben killed himself

Ben killed himself in the police cells, by biting his wrists.
3. In episode 7 "Caged", Catherine and Sara investigate a woman's death after her car crosses onto rail tracks and is hit by a train. What was the cause of her car being on the tracks?

Answer: Another motorist shunted the car onto the tracks

The victim, Megan Treadwell, had been followed by another car after an incident where she nearly ran the driver over earier on. He then pushed her car on to the tracks, where she didn't stand a chance against the oncoming train.
4. Episode 9 saw a return of a previous character - Tammy Felton - whom we met in series 1. What did the team discover about Tammy in the last series?

Answer: She was kidnapped as a child, and raised by her kidnappers

Tammy had been kidnapped as a child and raised by her kidnappers - she was really Melissa Marlow. The kidnapper was her babysitter.
5. Episode 7 was "The Organ Grinder". At the start of the episode, a young guy, Chuck, was persuading a woman to go upstairs in the lift to his room in the hotel. Chuck was played by a regular cast member on the bizarre, but brilliant, "Sunset Beach". What's the name of the actor who played him?

Answer: Dax Griffin

Dax Griffin played Tim Truman on "Sunset Beach". If you loved this show as much as I did, check out one of my other quizzes all about this bizarre show!
6. In episode 12, "You've Got Male", James Jasper was found shot dead in a hunting area in the deer hunting season. The insurance company records showed that his wife had taken out a life insurance policy in his name just a couple of months before. Who killed him?

Answer: He killed himself

It transpired that Mr Jasper had actually taken the policy out on his own life, not his wife. He had recently lost his job, and they had money troubles, so he thought this was the only way out. After he shot himself, he threw the gun away in an attempt to make it not look like a suicide, as he knew this would invalidate the policy.
7. In episode 14, Catherine is caught up in a kidnapping. She lets Sara know that something is wrong by leaving a clue on her table at the diner where she was on a date. What does Catherine leave?

Answer: A finger

The episode is called "The Finger" and indeed that's what Catherine leaves on the table. Would really ruin the moment on a date wouldn't it?!
8. "Burden of Proof" is episode 15. Mike Kimble is found dead in an unusual location - where?

Answer: A body farm

The body was found in a body farm - I'd never heard of one until I watched the series. The scientists that ran it knew the body wasn't one that should be there, and called the police.
9. Sara puts in a request for a leave of absence in episode 15. Why?

Answer: She thinks Grissom doesn't respect her

It's because she thinks Grissom doesn't respect her. The leave of absence request isn't mentioned again - I wonder if it had anything to do with Grissom sending her a plant at the end of the episode after Catherine mentions the incident?
10. In episode 16, Catherine, Sara and Grissom investigate the death of an ice hockey player, during a game. Dr Robbins notes when doing the autopsy that the victim has quinine in his system, and says the guy must have had malaria in the last six months, or liked Gin and Tonic. Why Gin and Tonic?

Answer: tonic water contains quinine

Apparently British Colonials in India first mixed the anti-malarial quinine tonic with gin, as it didn't taste nice on its own, and created the first "Gin and Tonic". Thanks to Wilkipedia for this info!
