We find out that doctors tell Ian she's been dead for nine months (not that he believes them). Ian believes that she really died on the way to the hospital because of the bumpy ride.

Matt Lucas is well known for his ability to play all sorts of weird and wonderful characters (a talent he displays in his sketch show "Little Britain") and in "Catterick" he plays three very different characters: Roy Oates (Mermade Hotel manager), Webster (DI Fowler's partner) and Dan, Dan, The Shellfish Man.

Carl is not overly impressed by Chris' findings but decides to give them a go after Chris notes that "gooseberries are just English grapes".
They continue to eat the gooseberries whilst having a deep and meaningful conversation through their twisted faces (due to the taste of the fruit).

Chris was angry when George left the cast of American hospital drama "E.R." and ripped the poster. Carl pretends to ring George to tell him about the incident, though when he accidently rings room service he orders fried eggs on toast. When Chris finds pictures of Tony in Carl's ex-wife's house, he asks if they are pictures of Paul. Carl's ex-wife Judy explains that his name is Paul Anthony and he's been called Tony since he was young.
Chris decides not to tell Carl that Tony is his soon, especially seeing as Carl has just murdered him (albeit in self defence).
