Mr. Edwards was highly addicted to alcohol. Grace took the children and divorced him. Mr. Edwards sobered up with the help of the town.

2. "Roseanne" and Beverly

Answer: Alcohol

Beverly decided she was an alcoholic and started going to AA. On Super Bowl Sunday she didn't want anybody to be drinking around her. Jackie, Gary, and Dan went to the garage to drink. Roseanne was upset about this until Bev mentioned that she had been drinking herself.

Rose had been taking pain pills for a very long time. She had an accident while plowing. Dorothy and Blanche talked Rose into going to rehab. Rose decided she needed to call the rehab herself.
