Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many Cybermen launched out of Saint Paul's Cathedral, according to Missy?

Answer: 91

Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) estimated there were 87, and Missy (Michelle Gomez) corrected her, stating there were 91 Cybermen. The Doctor noted that would be one for every major city in England. Missy had established cyber-bases all around the world. She even made a few Pounds charging people to take pictures with "the metal men."
The Cybermen fanned out from London and exploded, turning into clouds which spread Cybermen pollen over cemeteries. The pollen re-animated the dead and turned them into new Cybermen.
2. What was Osgood wearing when UNIT arrived to arrest Missy?

Answer: Bowtie

When we last saw Osgood in "The Day of the Doctor" she had been wearing the Fourth Doctor's signature scarf. This time, Osgood had on a bowtie, even stating "bowties are cool," which the Eleventh Doctor was found of saying. Her costume was a mix of the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors.
UNIT arrested both Missy and the Doctor. The Doctor was made "President of the Earth" to fight off the Cybermen.
Celery was one of the signature accessories of the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison), while the question mark sweater was worn by the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy).
Osgood was played by British comedienne Ingrid Oliver. She has been active in comedy since 2005, mostly on television. Oliver and Lorna Watson make up the comedy team of Watson & Oliver.
3. Where did the Cyberman take Clara when she was unconcious?

Answer: Cemetery

Clara awoke to find herself in a cemetery filled with corpses that had been re-animated as Cybermen. The Cyberman who saved her turned to be Danny Pink.
Danny had been placed into the cyber-body before he could switch off his emotions, and he needed help turning on the switch.
For Clara waking up in a bank, see "Time Heist." Several episodes, especially "The Caretaker", feature the school. The Cyberman took Clara from the 3W headquarters, which was hidden in the cathedral.
4. Finish the statement by Missy: "Did I mention, _______________"

Answer: Bananas

Osgood attempted to convince Missy that she would be more valuable as a hostage. Missy agreed with Osgood, yet he killed her anyway, saying "Did I mention? Bananas."
Missy (The Mistress) was played by Michelle Gomez, who appeared to be having enormous fun playing the Doctor's Time Lord nemesis. Gomez has been acting in film and television since 1992. She is probably best known for her television work, in programs such as "The Book Group" (2002-2003), "Green Wing" (2004-2006) and "Bad Education" (2012-2013). Her first appearance on "Doctor Who" was in the season eight opener "Deep Breath".
5. Where does Missy order the Cybermen to crash the airplane?

Answer: Belgium

Belgium, specifically Ghent. "Kill some Belgians. Might as well, they're not even French," states Missy. The plane does crash, but not before the Doctor falls out and does a spectacular mid-air save by free-falling towards the TARDIS.
The plane had been UNIT's mobile command center, where the Doctor was serving as President of Earth.
6. The Doctor turns on Danny Pink's emotional inhibitor.

Answer: False

Clara is the one who turns on the emotional inhibitor, which links Danny with the hive mind of the Cybermen. This allows them to learn Missy's plan for killing everyone on Earth.
Clara uses the sonic screwdriver to turn on the inhibitor circuits. The scene features a heart-breaking farewell between Danny and Clara.
Samuel Anderson played Danny Pink during series eight. He started acting around 2004, getting his first big break in "The History Boys." Before "Doctor Who", Anderson was on the popular soap opera "Emmerdale" from 2007 to 2009.
Given that Danny exploded into flames as a Cyberman, thus saving the Earth, it's likely this was Anderson's last hurrah. Then again, you can never be sure on "Doctor Who".
7. Right before the Doctor kills The Mistress, she asks him to say "something nice." How does the Doctor respond?

Answer: You win

The Doctor says "You win" and Missy replies "I know." While we see Missy being vaporized, the previous Master came back after being burned to ashes... so this might not be the last time we see the Mistress.
The Mistress set up the elaborate Cyberman army ruse to prove to the Doctor that they weren't that different after all. While the Doctor did not succumb to the urge to use the Cybermen to conquer the universe, he was probably going to shoot The Mistress (before the Cyber Brigadier beat him to it).
And we do have the answer to the Doctor's question "Am I a good man?" For the record, he is "an idiot with a box and a screwdriver."
8. Danny Pink could rescue one person from the Nethersphere using the cyber-control bracelet. Who did he choose to save?

Answer: The young boy he killed

Two weeks passed since Cyberman Danny sacrificed himself to save the Earth. One person could return from the Nethersphere using Missy's bracelet, and Danny chose the young boy he killed during combat. Danny asks Clara to find the boy's parents.
Osgood was zapped by Missy, while Colonel Ahmed was strangled by a Cyberman.
The young boy was played by Antonio Bourouphael.
9. Who makes a surprise appearance in the TARDIS at the very end of "Death in Heaven"?

Answer: Santa Claus

Santa Claus appeared and asked the Doctor what he wants for Christmas. This is clearly a preview for the 2014 Christmas Special.
Nick Frost played Santa. With a birth name of Nicholas Frost, he seems a natural. Frost has been acting since 1998, in both films and television. He can be seen in films such as "Shaun of the Dead" (2004), "Kinky Boots" (2005) and "Hot Fuzz" (2007).
Donna Noble appeared at the very end of "Doomsday" as a preview of the 2006 Christmas Special "The Runaway Bride".
10. Who wrote the season eight-ending episode "Death in Heaven"?

Answer: Steven Moffat

It's the season ender - is there any doubt Steven Moffat would write it?
Moffat has been the show-runner for "Doctor Who" since the start of 2010, and he has managed series five, six, seven and eight, including the 50th Anniversary special. Moffat has written many of the best episodes of the modern "Doctor Who" era, including "Blink" and the entire River Song story arc.
Rachel Talalay was the director of both "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven". She worked on several "Nightmare on Elm Street" films and is the only woman to direct a film in the series, "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" (1991). Talalay has worked in television since 1995.
Jeremiah Krage was one of the Cybermen. He is best known for his work on the BBC children's program "ZingZillas".
Mark Gatiss is a frequent writing partner of Moffat. He wrote "Robot of Sherwood" for series eight, his seventh script for "Doctor Who".
