Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Posession" opened with a free spark floating through space. It fell down to Earth while the Maximals and Predacons were experiencing a thunderstorm. It hovered above the Predacon base, and waited for lightning to strike, which allowed it to jump into the Predacons' network, and commandeer a new body. Which Predacon became posessed?

Answer: Waspinator

Starscream was the leader of the Decepticons' air fleet, and a very competent flier. When he possessed Waspinator's body, he used it to fly around and perform manoeuvres that none of the other transformers had seen Waspinator do. For the first time, seeing the giant wasp was a genuine concern.

The fact that Waspinator could not resist Starscream's spark also indicated just how strong-willed Starscream could be.
2. After the storm, the Predacons and Maximals were surveying the damage to their bases. The Predacons soon found out that one of their own was not the same. The bodiless spark, it turned out, belonged to the infamous Starscream, from the original "Transformers" TV series, set 300 years before "Beast Wars". All the records said Starscream was dead, but yet, here he stood. How did Starscream claim he had died?

Answer: Defending Galvatron from Unicron

Starscream explained his story to his new Predacon allies, and the flashback showed him being destroyed by the planet-sized transformer, Unicron. Even from the beginning, Starscream was scheming, for this was not what really happened.

The original "Transformers" series aired in 1984, with "Transformers: The Movie" coming out in 1986. In the feature film, new characters were added, and older ones were killed off.

The movie opened with a large battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, and many familiar faces perished. After the battle, Megatron was weak, so Starscream used the opportunity to push him out an airlock, and assume leadership of the Decepticons. Megatron, left to die in space, was picked up by Unicron, and remade into the stronger Galvatron. Galvatron then went to Starscream's coronation ceremony, and killed him. Starscream's mutant, indestructible spark was left to wander the cosmos for 300 years, until it came across an unsuspecting Waspinator.
3. Starscream was a powerful Decepticon, and advised Megatron to attack the Maximals while they were still repairing their base. Megatron agreed, and the hard-hitting surprise attack drove the Maximals from their own base. When the Predacons had control of both bases, Megatron needed to return, but left Starscream in charge of the Maximal base. Whom did Megatron leave behind to watch Starscream for signs of trouble?

Answer: Scorponok

Scorponok was the only original Predacon who was completely and genuinely loyal to Megatron. Megatron used Scorponok to watch the other Predacons in case they became treacherous. There were frequent power grabs amongst the Predacons, and while Scorponok was usually able to discover the schemes, he was often not clever enough to stop them.

Inferno would later arrive as Megatron's second completely loyal soldier. He was even less cunning than Scorponok, but made up for it with sheer strength and viciousness.
4. The Maximals knew the name Starscream, but little else about the Decepticon. Most of the records on Starscream were sealed by the Maximal elders. Who was able to tell the Maximals about Starscream's true, treacherous nature?

Answer: Dinobot

For some reason, the Maximal elders sealed the files on the old Starscream, and none of the current Maximals knew much about the ancient Decepticon. Dinobot was an avid history buff, and was not originally a Maximal. he did have access to the records on Starscream, and knew him to be an opportunistic coward. With this knowledge, the Maximals were able to concoct a plan to get their base back.
5. The Predacons were prone to a little betrayal every now and again, which often meant Megatron had to be stronger and more cunning than all his troops. Starscream, though, was a whole different level of ambition. Who was willing to help Starscream overthrow Megatron?

Answer: Blackarachnia

The spiders in Megatron's crew, Tarantulas and Blackarachnia, liked to pursue their own agendas. They were known for subverting Megatron's plans, and always looking for personal gain.

Blackarachnia was left with Starscream to hold the Maximal base. When alone with him, she called his bluff. She knew that Starscream hadn't originally died the way he told Megatron. Instead of blasting him for his lie, though, she offered to help him overthrow Megatron. Starscream took Blackarachnia as his protege, and started teaching her what he knew about playing his enemies against each other.
6. The Maximals learned about Starscream's nature, and decided to play him against Megatron. The Maximals' plan required that they get back into their own base. They approached Starscream and begged him to use the CR chamber to heal their wounded. Which Maximal pretended to be severely damaged, and in need of healing?

Answer: Dinobot

When the Predacons attacked the Maximal base, Dinobot was injured, and had to be flown out by Optimus Primal. While the Maximals were away, he was able to repair himself considerably, but kept the illusion of his injuries for the Maximals' ploy. The Maximals needed to seem truly desperate for a CR chamber, and Dinobot was the best candidate.

He and Rattrap started arguing with each other, almost revealing their ruse to Starscream, before Tigatron angrily got them to be quiet.
7. Starscream granted the Maximals' their request to use their own CR Chamber, but he had a set of stipulations attached to it. What did Starscream do before he let any Maximals in the base?

Answer: Took Optimus Primal hostage

Starscream taking Optimus hostage was also part of the Maximals' plan. Optimus was forced to transform and shackled in the base. Unfortunately for Starscream, this left two Maximals in the base to thwart him.

"Betrayed, shackled, and caged. In other words, so far, so good." - Optimus.

The Maximals had hidden away most of their weapons and ordinance during the storm, so Optimus was able to easily rearm himself. When Starscream got rid of Scorponok, it became an even two versus two fight in the Maximal base. Even odds were still not good enough for Starscream, though.

The original plan for Optimus' escape was a lot more elaborate and crafty. For time and budget reasons, it had to be cut down, so Optimus just used his gorilla strength to break out.
8. In exchange for the use of their CR Chamber, the Maximals were forced to offer Starscream whatever he wanted. What did Starscream have the Maximals do for him?

Answer: Attack the Predacon base

Starscream was always ambitious and treacherous. After the Predacons ousted the Maximals from the Maximal base, Starscream was given command while Megatron returned to the Predacon base.

Having just a single base was not good enough for Starscream, though. He wanted to rule everything he could. With the Maximals his servants, he ordered them to attack Megatron in the hopes of gaining full control over both factions. But Starscream was shortsighted, and did not anticipate the Maximals and Predacons all turning on him as a mutual enemy. Soon, Starscream had no friends left in either the Maximal or the Predacon ranks.
9. Starscream truly was a schemer, and was willing to make temporary deals with anyone who would take them. Once everyone realized just how unreliable Starscream was, they stopped working with him. Who asked Starscream, "Are all your dreams in Technicolor?"?

Answer: Blackarachnia

The original "Transformers" TV series was aired in 1984 in technicolor. Technicolor was the prominent process of rendering video in colour. It was much brighter and more colourful than other methods.

Starscream was constantly making deals with anyone who would listen, and breaking them when it benefited him. Eventually, he was in a position in which no one was willing to trust or work with him. Starscream was begging Optimus Primal for mercy, and then in the very next second, pleading with Blackarachnia to destroy the Maximal commander. In light of this optimistic attitude, Blackarachnia asked Starscream, "Are all your dreams in Technicolor?" and promptly shot at him instead.
10. By the end of the episode, all the Maximals and all the Predacons were fed up with Starscream. Who bid Starscream a final farewell, saying, "Hasta la vista, Starscream."?

Answer: Optimus Primal

This line is a reference to the film "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", which had been released only six years before this episode. In the film, the Terminator learned to say cool lines, including "Hasta la vista, baby."

Optimus Primal had Starscream at gunpoint. Starscream had landed on an Energon crystal deposit, and was pleading with Optimus to be spared. When Starscream looked over, he saw Blackarachnia, and demanded that she save him by shooting Optimus. Having recently left her for dead, Blackarachnia was not in the mood, and shot the Energon deposit. Optimus Primal took off, saying this final farewell, leaving Starscream in the resulting explosion. The explosion launched Starscream's spark out of Waspinator, and when the Predacons reassembled his body, Waspinator was back. Starscream's spark was hurled back into space, vowing revenge.
